I just got a sweet deal on a M1 carbine but the stock is all slashed up. All the metal is pristine so I want to replace the stock but I don't want to go back with original wood. I asked the guy at the gun store if I would have any trouble replacing the stock and he said "Not as of a couple of days ago..." which alludes to the possibility that you couldn't replace the stock on them with anything other than the original wood while the AWB was in effect?

Has anyone else heard of this? Is there any place that carries an excellent stock replacement for the M1? Maybe something in xytel. Ideas?

Original wood, try Boyd's.

If not them, in synthetic both Choate Machine and Tool and Ram-line made/make M-1 carbine stocks including folders. Both well made.
