M1 Garand from CMP Arrived Today!!!

Beautiful. I got a couple of these last year. The stocks benefit from a few coats of Boiled linseed oil or similar. The recoil springs needed cleaning and greasing. And the stocks needed to be relieved at the fore end as the barrel was riding pretty hard. Mine have been good shooters and I will use them this season in our local CMP match league.

Enjoy!

I got mine over 40 years ago and it was about $55; not bad but someone years later wanted it more than I did; mine definitely did NOT look as nice as yours, nor did they come in a hard case. Congrats!

Yes, I understand. No offense taken. I just thought the date was pretty cool as the original starting point.

No telling how many times it has had parts swapped.
One of mine is a September 45.
Where all has it been , right .
Then you hold one of those rounds and think how any people lost their lives world wide one of those.
Do you get the GCA magazine ? So awesome

Yes. I have started getting the GCA Magazines. I think "awesome" is good fit.

Sadly, the en bloc clips are no longer inexpensive. I've seen US$2 & $3 per each--absurd.

You may find one of these useful

Hopefully for less than $40.

These are worth seeking out

The chamber flag not so much, but that bolt handle cover is your safe's best friend--should be able to find them for $20-25 on eBay

Now, if you can drive to CMP North or South, they sell "spam" cans of ammo which have the ammo packed in en blocs in cloth bandoliers, and with no additional ($$$) shipping charges.

If you are keen on a military sling, let me recommend the M-36 canvas:

It's far easier to set up and use than the leather M-1906 and requires a lot less setup, oiling, and the like.

Garands are very addictive.
