I'm going to try front pocket carry for a little while.

I front pocket carry my 642 in a Robert Mika pocket holster. It does a great job of concealment, it looks like I have a wallet in my pocket. The holster is very comfortable and keeps the gun in a fixed, at the ready position. I carry a lot more often since it is so easy to just drop it into your pocket.

I have been carrying my back up in the Front off hand pocket for years. I started with a 37 J-Frame then a 442 and the last couple years a LCR357. Depending on what Pants I ware you can't see anything. Nobody has a clue. I can stand right in front of someone with gun in hand and finger ready to move to the trigger if need be.

I kinda like the M642 and carried one for a few years until S&W released their no-lock M442.
I bought one of those too and that's my current carry but I still like the M642.

I bought a blackhawk nylon pocket holster, but I know I can do better than that.

The Mika holster in the above picture is great and if you like leather Galco makes a very nice leather front pocket holster.

Not a 642 but close. In the winter time I keep a Mika pocket holster in my front pocket and another in my coat pocket so I can switch between when need be. I also have yet another Mika that I keep in my laptop bag that's been modified with Velcro. I love my Mika's and J-frames.

I have a Mika pocket holster on order per everybody's recommendation. I have to get this little guy to the range for some function testing.

You will love each the 642. I suggest looking at Altamonte for some wood grips. I carry mine in a Galco Summer Comfort sometimes, but I mostly pocket carry in an uncle mike's.
