Hello all,

My question is on magazine capacity laws in Ohio. I know that the use of magazines capable of holding more than 31 rds are illegal and consider a firearm to be class 3.

My question is this, is it legal to own a matching capable of holding more than 31 rounds so long as you don't not insert it into the firearm and keep it stored separately?

Thanks in advance for your relies

Correct. You can own magazines with a capacity of greater than 31 rounds, they just can't be inserted into the weapon.

Excludes .22 rimfire firearms.

There is or was legislation being proposed that would do away with the law. Im not sure of its status though.

I ask the question because, recently I placed an order with Centerfire systems for an AK pistol that came with a drum magazine. Knowing I could own the magazine but not utilize it in the weapon. That being said the pistol arrived but no drum magazine. I was neither notified nor my price adjusted for the missing magazine which they charge 99.99 per magazine on the website. I immediately called the company and was told that they didn't send me the magazine due to it being illegal to own in Ohio, and that they considered the magazine a free bonus with the pistol, therefore there was no price difference.

I feel that this would be illegal to not send me my purchased item or refund the cost of that item. As well as not even contact me prior to shipment that it would not be included. Is this true? If so what avenue should I follow to rectify the situation?
