I keep seeing videos of magazine fed 870s and mossberg 500s....whats the deal with these...who makes them.....

Knoxx has or had a product called the Sidewinder that was an external, ten-round drum magazine that could be attached to pump-action shotguns.

Just out of curiosity, what did a Saiga sporterized 12 gauge sell for before the current panic? I've seen them at gunshows for $500-600, and although they seem decent, they don't have fit & finish beyond that of a sub $300 shotgun.

Those are the two cheapest price I've seen in a while, some places even get to $700 for these things, but the only place I've seen that's been about the same for the past bit is gunsatcost, and they have two...mfg # IZ108 and IZ109:

The difference seems to be the sights - the 108 has rib sights, the 109 has pistol sights. Same price though.

Just a thought, the US military played around with using box mags for its military shotguns back in the early 70s.
They discovered that modern shotshells, except for brass cased, were best kept in a tubular mag as they resisited deformation best end to end. When left loaded in a box mag they tended to deform, just enough to cause a hang up when chambering a round.
It should be noted that none of the countries that produce the Saiga SG issue them to their police/military forces. It is produced seemingly solely for sale right here.

I have an old Mossberg bolt action magazine fed 16ga shotgun. I can't remember but it holds 3 rounds I think.

I have a Mossberg 500 with the Knoxx Sidewinder kit. It's a fun and neat gun, I collect 500s so it's an interesting piece. I have one 10 round drum (about as big around as a coffee can) and six 6-round box mags (about as big as a 20 round M14 mag).
The system has a few critical flaws.
1. The lack of a shell flush with the magazine tube inside the action leads to jams if you rack the action with the muzzle pointed down.
2. The recoil can cause some shells crimp to open in the magazine and spill shot into the magazine and leave you with worthless rounds.
3. The magazine well pushes the forend too far away to be really comfortable to use without really long arms or a really short stock.
4. Rimmed rounds do not work well in box magazines, you MUST load them with each rim behind the last.
5. The magazines are somewhat akward to load and if done incorrectly will release the catch and spit all your shells out.
Having said that I like mine because I like off the wall stuff. Not every gun has to be %100 functional and "needed" or "useful". It is the LAST shotgun I would grab if the SHTF though...

There are at least two Turkish-made, box-fed shotguns.
First, the Safir T14 in .410, is already sold in USA by American Tactical Imports
Second, the Akdal MKA 1919 in 12 Ga is too new (production started this April) but i believe it will make to USA sooner or later.
Russia also produced box-magazine fed MP-133K pump-action shotguns in 12Ga, but these are scarce.
