Maybe they just don't have a webpage designer and don't feel like hiring a third party to do it. After all, why bother?

Looking at their site, they use a content management system (Zen Cart) to display the catalog. It is a pretty straight-forward system to keep updated. Even for non-techies.

After all, why bother?

There are a TON of computer savvy gun owners in this country. Updating a Web site (especially a CMS system like they have in place) isn't rocket science either...

I think that companies that choose to have a Web presence should keep them up to date. It's frustrating to find outdated content on a corporate site. Especially one that has cool toys. :)

Ok, then it is just me.
No, rc109a it isn't just you.

Why bother? That's like saying because they don't have an advertising department and don't feel like hiring anyone, they can throw out any old fertilizer as an ad, and then expect to make a sale. In this day and age that is the wrong attitude to have. The fact that many people make their shopping decisions solely online these days, and a sloppy website drives customers away, just like a messy physical storefront drives customers away.

The fact that here it is 2/3 of the way through 2008 and any company in any field that still has a 2007 catalog on their website speaks of sloppiness / laziness to me. Magpul isn't the only one, I went to Wilson Combat just yesterday and they still had their 2007 catalog on their website as the latest. So Wilson sells $7k guns and can't afford to make up a new catalog?

LMT still lists their 2006 catalog. :) Maybe the products are the same as they were in the last catalog?

Well just when I thought I was wrong I found out I was mistaken... I like their products, but they are slow to hit the streets. When a company advertises products to the public that are not available to the it makes me rather upset.

MagPul is the most innovative company in the gun world today. In 4 months, the Masada went from an idea to a fully functioning rifle without government funding. They have committed to selling the Masada to the public right away not seeking military contracts and ignoring the public like countless other firearms companies. Their customer service department is second to none and their support of our military is right there at the top (thankfully many companies do support the military).

A couple of years ago the company stopped all public announcements of impending product releases due to bitching on the internet. Their products will be released when they're released.

"Most innovative", huh? IMLHO, they’re not too innovative if their catalog is a year out of date. There's a term for announcing products and not delivering, it's called vaporware. So it’s a good idea if a company quits announcing products they can’t deliver on the promised date. All the innovation in the world doesn’t mean squat if you don’t have physical products to sell.

I dont really understand the problem here. Most of the stuff in the 2008 Catalog is up on the website for sale. Just try to ignore the fact that it says 2007 Catalog up at the top and your good.

I haven't really checked the "in's and out's" of magpul's website, but I usually don't buy anything online from a company if I can't easily navigate a website or find what I'm looking for by searching.

If you cant "easily" navigate Magpul's website then your slow or something.

There is a list on the side of the page that has everything on it. Click on something. Doesn't seem to hard to me.
