• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

Ok first off I know that the general consensus of Magpul mbus sights are that they would melt on a railed gas block. However, I still want to put these on my dpms sportical AR-15. Since there is an obvious height difference between the rail on the gas block and the rail on the upper receiver, could I just buy a taller post for the front sight or would this cause problems?

I have also tried different rail risers and they are not able to work with the stock front sight posts. The only thing that seems like it would work would be a taller front sight post.

Thanks in advance for any of your inputs.

This is also my first post. I am looking forward to this new community.

You need to get one of the following: sights made for gas block height, a taller gas block, a ff rail, or a riser block. I have noticed the riser blocks do not always align sights properly.

Magpul recommends not mounting the MBUS on a railed gas block. Plastic and hot gas blocks tend to cause trouble.;)

Thanks for the replies guys. I know that Magpul recommends to not mount them on there but I already have them mounted on my gas block and I don't shoot than many Rounds or fast enough for it to get that hot. As for risers, they will not work. They make the front post too high. Any problems with getting a taller front post to screw upwards to make up for the height difference?

My MBUS came with 2 pins for the front sight. A long one and a short one, the longer one is just for this situation. If it doesn't work then I think you either need a ff rail or the right sight for a gas block.

Ok thanks. My mbus only cam with on post. I guess I will need to look around for a longer replacement post. Thanks again for the help.

No, not two posts. Two pins, you know the thing that locks the sight post in position. The longer pin allows the post to be locked in position in a more extended position instead of a flush fit.

Oh ok wow. I would have never thought of that. I will have to check that out when I get home.

Same one I have. In the box with the instructions was a little bag with the other pin and the instructions on how to use it. I bet with Magpul being the great guys they are they would send you one if you called 'em up and was polite.
