    I think the Llama Minimax 45 uses a double-stack 10 round magazine.

Standard 1911s use single-stack magazines. No go.

Not sure what magazines will fit the Minimax, but standard 1911 style won't.

If it is a 7 round single stack mag that he uses, then yes just about any will do for range, but remember that reliability depends as much on the mag as it does the ammo or weapon.

I would strongly suggest that if your pal was to consider this as a carry piece, have him invest in some Mc Cormick, or Wilson magazines. I'd post a link, but dont have the links.

I think Dectonics used weird magazines, thats about it AFAIK. A single-stack Llama should use standard 1911 mags.

I use wilson mags almost exclusively. The exception would be the GI mags from ammoman.com which are mainly for range use and the Para mags in my Kimber Polymer.

I'm not too sure exactly what they have for magazines, but thought you might give this website a try. It is in Canada, but I last heard that 1911 mags were about $8 each(Cdn.). the website is Marstar.ca.
