Background: A Remington 1100 with gas ports adjusted to auto reload light charges.
Speculation: The open gas ports might allow too much gas to flow when shooting hunting loads. Thus the recoil might be harder than it's supposed to. This might lead to exessive wear on some parts in the gun.
Question: Please use http://www.gun-parts.com/remingtonshotgun/Aug15_02.jpg for reference. Which parts inside the gun will need extra maintanance because of possible exessive recoil forces?
I suppose that the plunger (4) and the spring (3) will wear. How about the breech bolt buffer (14)? Of course the gas piston parts (12, 73, 74) will wear out faster. Any other parts that I need to keep an extra eye on or change yearly or so just to be on the safe side?
Best regards
