Had one since the early 90's, maybe 1000 through it no failures of any kind. I have read they are one of the better imported AK variants but they never interested me enough to be sure. It has just been a toy for guests and maybe trading stock as I bought it cheap.

The forged receiver rifles are quite good.
Until the Bulgarian rifles came along they were one of the best AK buys going.

I bought one of the MAK 90 rifles and a Russian SKS rifle together, before the 'ban' years ago.

    I paid $159 for each.

I didn't have them two weeks, and a friend of a friend offered me $450 for the MAK.

Well. . . it was clean. Unfired. He wanted it. I really didn't 'need' it. . . .

And $450 is $450 you know.

    I don't miss that rifle.:D

Quite good, the stamped receiver models are as good or better than any others out there, and the milled {imported one year, 93} are true gems. Regardless, both are rugged, durable, well made AKs. Pricing for them starts at about $350-400, if your looking for an AK, a Mak90 is a great place to start.

In the pantheon of AKs, the MAK-90s are in the upper half in terms of quality. The only things you'll be missing out on are the "evil" nonsporting features and 922r compliance. All that can be fixed easily (well, except for the bayonet mount). But if you want a quality AK, the MAK is a good one.
