I'm looking to replace the existing thumbhole-stock set on a MAK90. Anyone have any recommendations for where to look for quality stuff? I'm looking for something more traditional looking.

    Thanks,

If you want to put a pistol grip on it, you'll need to put atleast 5 US made parts in it (the pistol grip, buttstock, and forend each count as one part, if US made. Replace some mag followers and floorplates and you're good to go)

If its got the square cut reciever youc an put pretty much anything on it.

    Try K-var for furniture.

As for the parts-count, you'll most likely want to replace the FCG in your rifle, as well as putting U.S. furniture on it. This way, you can use any mags, without having to worry about whether or not they have U.S. followers and floor plates. (Of course, no ATF agent is likely to actually check to see if your mags have U.S. parts.)

TAPCO sells a decent replacement FCG for around $30. Red Star Arms sells arguably the best FCG though, but it also carries an $85 price tag. It is adjustable though, whereas the TAPCO FCG isn't.

To remove the FCG of your MAK, you'll have to first remove the safety lever. If yours is like most other MAK's, the safety lever should still have a little tab on it, which presses against the trigger, which will have to be filed off first. It's a pretty easy job though.

MAK-90's have one of the nicest triggers you can find, dont change it out.

Another option would be to replace the gas piston and add a US made muzzle device.
