Had a weird dream last night. Forgot most of it by now, but one major part I remember was I was traipsing about the countryside (somewhere in Europe) with a bunch of my friends, dressed in tweed and apparently off to do "something about the whole situation."

I was armed--get this--with a C96 Broomhandle Mauser and a Krag-Jorgenson Carbine. Other guns in the group included Webleys, M1895 Nagants, Roth-Steyrs, Browning 1900s, Vetterlis (!), M95 Steyrs, and even a Lebel or two.

But as you would expect, our real issue wasn't the guns (which were in perfect working order). It was finding the ammo. :uhoh: The only gun we could seem to find ammo for was the 1900, and I even remember arguing with the owner of a shop that the single 20-round box of .30 Mauser he had in stock should be less than the $48.95 he had marked on it. And even though this dream was apparently set in Europe back in (more or less) pre-WW1, I still thought about how much money I still have on my check card, since .30-40 Krag was only $44.95!

Either way, what we had was not enough for whatever it was we were going to do. After I woke up and ate some luch, I went over to Sportsman's Warehouse and picked up a couple boxes of .22 WRF for my Remington Mod.12CS. Just in case, y'know...

So the moral of the story is, make sure you have enough ammo for whatever you might need ammo for! :)

I had a weird dream the other night too...

Someone stole the wood fence to my backyard while I was asleep, and I woke up (in the dream) to find that they had replaced it with chicken wire. I was really upset, particularly because the chicken wire was placed in the wrong area, so of course I went to see my wife while crying (apparently I'm a wimp in my dreams?). She told me that it was okay, because she didn't like the fence we had to begin with, and I got more upset because she didn't appreciate my plight!

(then I woke up).

(and then I decided not to try drinking an energy drink before bed again --- I never typically have any caffine in my diet, so it makes for fun dreams on my end, apparently)

Just thought you guys might care :)

Sounds like the beginning of a Heterodyne Boys adventure.... ;)

this is so weird!

i had an apocalyptic dream myself last night (or was it the night before  ) ... NYC (50 miles away from me) got nuked and the first thing i could think of in my dream was ... "do i have enough ammo?"

:uhoh:

Assuming a larger nuclear bomb, you'd have bigger concerns than ammo. Depending on wind, ammo wouldn't be your first concern at 50 miles regardless of size of the attack...but then again, I dreamed about falling off my toilet last night...and it was two stories high, so I guess dreams aren't always rational :)

I'm sure it does, but I'm also sure it doesn't exceed the allowed of 1.6 gal/flush, because that would just be bad

I've got a test in mechanical systems technology at 12:20pm today...pretty sure it's bad when class themes start invading your dreams... :banghead:

Last night I had a dream that my father was upset with me because I didn't know enough words...

I woke up this morning and remembered that I had listened to a Nick Swardson comedy CD late last night and he was talking about how he wasted his time throughout high school because he in fact only uses 5 words.

I am positive that had something to do with it because I know lots of words!

clemsonu0219: That's a pretty detailed dream...
MiddleAgedKen: Science demands finely developed powers of observation. Mad science doubly so.
I remember a lot of stuff from my dreams if I take the time to write down the major bits before I wake up all the way.

One thing from dreaming I've learned is that reading a book in a dream (or trying to read one, anyhow) can yield some pretty interesting results, as far as literary content goes. :uhoh:

The "gun shop" in the dream was pretty different, too. Rather than leaning up against the counter shooting the breeze with the staff like I usually do, I was sitting in a sort of small office in a rather comfy chair discussing the availability of ammo with who I think was the shop's owner. I remember that the box of .30 Mauser was sitting in his desk, not on a shelf.

Ah, well. Dreams are fun, and (at least in my opinion) harmless. :)

that is because dreaming is a function of the left half of the brain and reading a function of the right

I am so glad I dream about cars, at least I can find fuel for them.

Obviously you've never seen "Road Warrior."

Mind you, I'm not suggesting you should; just observing you haven't.

Ah yes, the eternal SHTF-now-I-can't-find-ammo dream. Common among those who frequent survivalist forums. Only known cure is to work hard, save money, and buy enough ammo to warp the floor joists.

must be a doc thing, the shelves in my cabinet collapsed under the weight of just the 357 ammo!

Nope, shelves don't count. You're not a survicalist if you don't have extra concrete pilings under your floor or a bunker in the back yard.
