Bet it was with a 9mm.
Here's the story:
Saying Taser is kinda like saying Kleenex these days.
He probably had one of those $25 gun show special stun things. Having been the "victim" of a real Taser, I can't see how he could possibly have gotten 5 rounds off while being shocked.
He probably zapped the guy thinking he would fall down and twitch......oops. It Don't work like that.
One shot could be fired by his muscles tightening up but no way could 5 be fired....he was shooting intentionally.
I saw the cops tazer a guy once(with a real tazer)...there was no way he could do anything but fall to the ground..... and gravity helped with that.
but I' am reminded of what my quote says
Never bring a Taser to a gun fight!
I'd prefer not to get shot five times, thanks.
Officials also said it is not a good idea to use a taser, and to carry a gun instead.
There, I fixed that.
Seriously, my money is on the "gun show tazer."
Officials also said it is not a good idea to use a taser against someone armed with a gun, especially in a confined area.
Ah yes, the government line. "Comply, comply, comply."
I know one individual, at least, who is relatively immune to Taser - he took four hits, two prongs, two contact, and all he did was dance around the cell, screaming. This is after several cans of OC, too. It ain't a magic wand, any more than a .45ACP is...
Which is the more effective stopper? A 45 thru the shoulder or a 9mm thru the upper lip at the base of the nose and moving in a straight line? I carry a Sig P245 sometimes or a Sig P226 other times. I feel comfortable with either. I feel just a bit more comfortable with the five 15rd mags that came with my Blackwater edition Sig PLUS the two 17rd Mec-Gar mags I recently purchased PLUS the new 20rd mag that Sig just started offering. Especially on long auto trips out of state or trips to the keys where weirdness happens frequently and in massive amounts.
When you're in a car you are confined and immobile and your range of motion is seriously limited (ever try shooting behind you while sunable to move your lower body?) The carjacker, however, is completely mobile and unhindered.
If you HAVE to fight, by all means, fight! But you are at a serious disadvantage in this situation.
Yeah, I bet it was a stun gun, not a Taser. Bad idea. Once the bad guy breaks contact with the stun, he's pretty much back to normal and pissed as hell. Cops don't Taser someone who's pointing a gun at them. They shoot them.
Are these the same officials that work hard to make it hard for anybody to own a firearm? Secondly, it bugs me that people are using the term taser in this thread. A taser and a stun gun are TOTALLY different. The key difference being that a stun gun just puts a lot of electricity onto your target. A taser actually pulses at a rate quick enough to make your muscles basically spasm. Dont mean to be nit picky about terms but they are different.
settle down now. the article made the mistake and the diffrence has been pointed out several times.
i think in that situation i would want a gun, not a tasor or stun gun. but then again, i actually prefer the BG getting shot, not myself. well, thats just me *grin*
