I'm trying to decide which is more surprising: that a guy who was tased still had the strength to fire his gun - or the guy who was shot 5 times lived to tell about it.

This was an actual scenario i thought about before buying a gun versus a taser. What if i taser someone but it fails? And what if they have a gun and i don't have any spare cartridges?

And that's why I prefer real guns.

My money is on it not being an actual Taser.

Saying Taser is kinda like saying Kleenex these days.

He probably had one of those $25 gun show special stun things. Having been the "victim" of a real Taser, I can't see how he could possibly have gotten 5 rounds off while being shocked.

It's possible the BG fired the gun as an involuntary reaction to being tasered. As his muscles convulsed the trigger was pulled.

I'm going with canopy2k on this one. It is possible, but almost everyone who isn't educated on those things calls all of them Tasers. Here where I work even some who are educated on them calls them (weak a$$ stun guns) Tasers also. Stun Guns are a joke.

Yeah I bet it was a Stun Gun and not a Tazer.

He probably zapped the guy thinking he would fall down and twitch......oops. It Don't work like that.

:) One shot could be fired by his muscles tightening up but no way could 5 be fired....he was shooting intentionally.

I saw the cops tazer a guy once(with a real tazer)...there was no way he could do anything but fall to the ground..... and gravity helped with that.

If someone jumped in my car and told me to drive I would drive alright, I would drive like the devil is hanging off my bumper I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to shoot the driver when he's going 120+ mph

but I' am reminded of what my quote says :D

Officials also said it is not a good idea to use a taser against someone armed with a gun, especially in a confined area.

Never bring a Taser to a gun fight!

I've been telling stupid antis this for years when they ask me "why don't you just get a Taser, then you wouldn't have to carry a gun!"

I'd prefer not to get shot five times, thanks.

    There, I fixed that.

A real taser can be defeated by a leather jacket or a couple layers of heavy clothing. You only get one shot. No trained person in their right mind would use a Real Taser on anyone armed with a gun or a knife, or even a piece of pipe, or bat.

Ah yes, the government line. "Comply, comply, comply."

My thinking is, if you are in the legal right to use a taser, you are also legally okay to use a gun. I'd rather use the gun any day of the week.

I know one individual, at least, who is relatively immune to Taser - he took four hits, two prongs, two contact, and all he did was dance around the cell, screaming. This is after several cans of OC, too. It ain't a magic wand, any more than a .45ACP is...

When I was contemplating a switch from 45 ACP to 9mm as my EDC (Every Day Carry) I asked a buddy on the wisdom of this and being a Navy SEAL who loves his Sig P226 he replied: Which is the more effective stopper? A 45 thru the shoulder or a 9mm thru the upper lip at the base of the nose and moving in a straight line? I carry a Sig P245 sometimes or a Sig P226 other times. I feel comfortable with either. I feel just a bit more comfortable with the five 15rd mags that came with my Blackwater edition Sig PLUS the two 17rd Mec-Gar mags I recently purchased PLUS the new 20rd mag that Sig just started offering. Especially on long auto trips out of state or trips to the keys where weirdness happens frequently and in massive amounts.

Actually, Grim, in this case they're usually right. Cops call their cars The Metal Coffin for a reason. Ever heard the expression "shooting fish in a barrel"?

When you're in a car you are confined and immobile and your range of motion is seriously limited (ever try shooting behind you while sunable to move your lower body?) The carjacker, however, is completely mobile and unhindered.

If you HAVE to fight, by all means, fight! But you are at a serious disadvantage in this situation.

    Bingo!

Yeah, I bet it was a stun gun, not a Taser. Bad idea. Once the bad guy breaks contact with the stun, he's pretty much back to normal and pissed as hell. Cops don't Taser someone who's pointing a gun at them. They shoot them.

If I were ever to find myself in a fight........just the the US Military.....I would pride myself on being the most heavily armed. I like going home to my family at night.

Are these the same officials that work hard to make it hard for anybody to own a firearm? Secondly, it bugs me that people are using the term taser in this thread. A taser and a stun gun are TOTALLY different. The key difference being that a stun gun just puts a lot of electricity onto your target. A taser actually pulses at a rate quick enough to make your muscles basically spasm. Dont mean to be nit picky about terms but they are different.

settle down now. the article made the mistake and the diffrence has been pointed out several times.
i think in that situation i would want a gun, not a tasor or stun gun. but then again, i actually prefer the BG getting shot, not myself. well, thats just me *grin*
