Despite all of the anxiety, the fact remains that ROTR is doing this out of the kindness of his own heart and at the expense of his own family time. No matter how long he waits, we still appreciate him taking this upon himself and have no real reason to complain. Good job ROTR! I really do like this monthly match.

I concur with all of that. Thanks for doing this ROTR! It's a lot of fun to get out and do this with a different gun each month.

Special mention to Outlander who had ragged holes that were very difficult to score with both 9mm and 45ACP. 95-3x and 95-5X respectively.

The 100 point match this month really skews the results. Persistence pays.:) At least I'm finally on the board.

Woohoo, I win big money! Pays to enter!
I think that makes two months in a row the open class had only one entrant. I guess i'll go for three as my collection is kinda limited.

Thanks for running the contest, ready, lots of fun.

Man, I am depressed. I am not a good shot with them hand guns. I just can't take my sweet time with them. I want to double tap and move on. I am going to make up for it this month! I know I can shoot a rifle.

My hats off to ya Charleym3 and Outlander. Fine shoot'n out there. This really is the most fun (shooting) I've had in a while. I'll have to take my time and really do a good group this month. The competition is getting heavy. Thanks again ROTR for coming up with this match.

Scott

It would really be cool if we could manage to have at least one months match as an area get together sort of thing. I'd be willing to travel a bit to shoot with some of yall some weekend.

Also I've got a few ideas for future months matches.
1. a left handed (weak hand) pistol match.
2. combat shotgun match. Best buckshot group at 25 yds or at least most pellets on paper after 5 shots or something.
3. Shotgun match with slugs.
4. Carbine shoot for those short rifles.
5. some kind of trick shot match. (idea still evolving, maybe splitting a shot on an axe head or something)

Just a few late night thoughts from the deputy. Anyway this is what I get like when I'm worn out from work. Brain won't shut off yet.

Wow that was close. Almost split right down the middle too. I can see that age old argument will never get settled :)

Man, some of you guys are really awsome shots too!

Lots of good shooting. The thing is...that little 8.5"x11" piece of paper at 10 yards is pretty small too. Even the lowest scores (like mine) would stop the bad guys.

These are for fun, so go out and recruit new shooters.

Kudos to El Rojo for getting some new shooters out to the range! He has the record so far of getting TWO new shooters to participate in the match.

Man, I suck! :p

I should've taken more time to study where my bullets hit at that range, instead of just pushing the target out and firing at will! Hehe

Next month, my Mauser and I will do much better!

I agree. Everytime I get down on myself because I didn't shoot my best, I take that 8x11 target and hold it up to my chest. That kind of puts things in perspective.

Thanks ROTR for looking at the positive and trying to encourage me in my time of need! I wouldn't call them new shooters, but it was cool that Shakespeare's wife wanted to go. She ended up cleaning up with the 9mm. Lets keep this thing going.

On ideas, I shot a really cool shotgun match once. I don't think we could use it since everyone would have to make some heavy steel targets, but it was cool none the less. Your first shot was at 7.5 yards. A hostage half silhouette plate was 5 inches offset from a bad guy plate behind it. You had to shoot the bad guy without knocking over the hostage plate with buck-shot (look at the attached picture and you can see the standing hostage with the dead bad-guy lying behind him). Then you had to hit another half-man at 15 yards, then 25 yards. Then you had to do a tactical reload to slugs and then hit another half-man at 60 yards and 85 yards. The person with the lowest time won. You were penalized 30 seconds for hitting the bad guy and hostage, 60 seconds for just hitting the hostage (there was no way to really do that because when the half-man hostage fell over, it fell onto the bad-guy), and then like 5 seconds for each extra shell over 5. A few guys hit both the hostage and bad-guy and that would generate yells from the shooters in back of "He was a coo borater!" I missed the slugs twice my first time. Then the 2nd time I went down to a knee and hit them both no problem. I ended up getting 2nd place with a score of like 13 seconds! It was a fun match and I had a good time. Simple to set up and run. The best thing about it is I learned I can take head shots with my 870 and buckshot within 7.5 yards. Never would have tried that prior to that. I better practice some more before I decide to try it in real life.

my target came back,,,to me,,,

i guess i messed up the address somehow, havent checked to see what i did. so here it is anyways.

i only shot the 9mm bhp out of the box, carrols lead reloads, right hand only slow fire.

i scored it 90 with 3X (counted the double as 2X). uh, i also touched the black with 2 but not the white 9 line so i counted all outside the black as 8's.

wish it made it in.

mighta given 9mm the edge it needed...:D

sorry no .45

no mauser or the like either so hopefully next month i'll have something that fits the may category. don't really feel like spending $ on any guns right now.

:)

Thank you thank you...

I'm here all week! I'd like to thank the academy and my parents and my producer and Ummm, wait, wrong speech, fumble fumble, oh yeah, here it is.

I'd like to thank Beretta USA for making an accurate firearm with a consistant DAO trigger, Dillon Precision for their reloading equipment, Montana Gold bullets, V V for the powder, Winchester for the primers, the US Govt for the once fired brass, and mostly my wife. She insisted that I stay home, so instead of burning ammo at the range, I was dry firing in front of the TV practicing trigger control on her favorite TV shows characters.
