Market for Custom Revolvers?

With the seemingly high demand for "high end" 1911's such as Wilson Combat, Les Baer, Ed Brown, Nighthawk and the like in today's handgun market I was wondering if the consensus thinks there might be a market for finely crafted, fitted and finished revolvers?
 
Paris I would say the answer is yes but It's a tough go in the gun industry these days between liability insurance and regulations.
 
On the factory production side, there are Freedom Arms and BFR in the USA, and Korth in Europe.

I'd pay top dollar for a really decent old style Smith & Wesson revolver. Something equivilent to a first year Combat Magnum (later Model 19) in blue with four inch barrel, red ramp front - white outline rear sights, normal trigger and hammer and Herrett's Shooting Star grips.

The problem is, current S&W revolvers are just cheap copies of Smith & Wesson revolvers.
 
YES! Around here, nobody wants the Safety Wesson wind up revolvers. Used pre lock S&W's are scarce and expensive. I, and many others want a revolver like S&W used to make. Someone buy the rights to the model 19, or 66 and start selling them to us.

Yes, they will be expensive to make, and to buy, but have you looked at what S&W is asking for the revolvers they currently produce? :barf:
 
Mr. Jones, I got a nickel says the patents to the S&W revolvers expired long ago.

One of my pipe dreams when I win the lottery is a CNC machine and program it to make K and N frames; a second one to make barrels and a third for the small parts. Contract with Wolfe for springs and Herrett's for grips - or - find and acquire the patterns and rights to the old Fitz 'Gunfighter' grips. (Do they make CNC machines for wood?)

Sigh.....
 
There is a rumor flying on 1911forum.com that Wilson Combat is getting ready to bring out their own revolver. I doubt it, but just the discussion shows there is still some interest in nice sixguns.
 
Ah, how could I have forgotten USFA, which has a custom shop, and even their higher-end production stuff has such goodies as case-coloring by Doug Turnbull.
 
Archie, yes they make CNC machines for wood.

Patents are good for 17 years, and except in special cases (like pharma), can not be extended.

The issue is that if the gun looks like the original, they can come after you for trademark infringement.

At one time, Wilson's offered a "turnkey" S&W M66 revolver with Wilson modifications (action job, sights and - I think - grips), but this of course was not of their own manufacture. I haven't seen that for some time, however.

I would rather have one of those than a repackaged Heritage Stealth, I mean ADP. ;)
 
Supposedly their revolver man has returned to the fold after working elsewhere or solo for a while. Maybe he is trying to persuade the boss to give him his own gun.
 
I hope the Wilson Combat rumor is true. Maybe some healthy competition will get S&W to make a revolver I would purchase.

In any case, I'll take a nice new Wilson Combat revolver please!
 
Gemini Customs will build a turn-key custom on a Ruger SP101 or GP100, that is then delivered to your FFL to be transferred as a new firearm.
