throw another vote for a 925M.
got it dressed out with a nice, older Redfield 4x30 scope.
with the remington Accutip ammo it is no less accurate than my 17 HMR and I actually have to clean it LESS than the 17.

Another thumbs up for Marlin 925-M, its a great rifle, I really like mine. I put a cheap Cabela's 3-9x40 scope on and I can hold 1.5"-2" at 100 yards, plenty good enough for me.

im going to buy a 983 wood stock , i like the tube and it will mostly be used field hunting.

My first rifle was a Marlin 25 MN. Hundreds of groundhogs lay claim to it's reliable accuracy. Wish they were here to tell you about it.. Longest pig kill from ravine to ravine was probably near 200 yards. This rifle has also taken a half dozen suburban whitetails with head shots.
My only complaint is the forend is so scratched up from resting it on barbed wire fences. Oh and the last three shots in the magazine I need to push up on the bottom of the mag to get them to feed. It's likely just a weak mag spring. A new mag would fix that problem.
