Move to 7:40 in this video and watch to 9:00, now make sure the bolt is being held in the receiver, can you cycle it back an it go all the way forward on its own or does it still need help closing all the way? Note the recoil spring and guide rod in the video look the same over the entire length as far as not being bend and the only parts interacting are them, the bolt and the receiver.

If things are free there we can focus elsewhere, if things are binding there we don’t need to waste our time searching for other problem areas.

I bought the gun to the gunsmith to fix the slide like I said I shot it a few times it worked and then it started up again with the slide not closing all the way so I wasted 95 dollars!

A used Marlin model 60?
Id suggest checking out a youtube tutorial on how to dissemble and clean a model 60.
Q-tips, toothpicks and a inexpensive .22 cal cleaning rod and bore solvent will get you started.

Clean it first then get back to us.

The Marlin 60 is a dirty running rimfire, the 60 should be looked at every so oftin.

The question of age or abuse is another issue.
Take a look at the magazine tube, it might have been bent or replaced with a inner magazine tube from another marlin, not all magazine tubes are the same (different follower), old dirty/gummy mag tube and tired inner magazine spring might cause cycle issues.
Check that your bolt springs arnt kinked.

Kinked bolt spring + tired magazine

spring and lots of spent powder crud glued inside the action with use of WD-40 will bind up a model 60 easy.

Red circled area the Marlin outer magazine tube gets bent.

If thar outer magazine tube is tweaked, odds are the inner tube was bent/kinked and replaced.

The bolt has groves on the side,so when I put the top piece on they come together!. Something is rubbing that's for sure maybe I should take it in to a gunsmith.

I'm looking at mine, because I had that issue with my great grandad's,but I cannot remember what I did to fix it. The only thing I can think of is you pull the bolt handle to the right and let go. Mine is old enough to not have a bolt hold open, it has a manual one where you have to push the bolt handle (charging handle) to the left and lock it open.
