I have a Marlin 25 .22lr rifle and while firing the operation works well it simply will not eject the round when pulling back. I don't think its really the ejecter either as they seem to be in good shape. The round gets physically jammed in and you have to use a rod to push it out with quite a bit of force. Its not the rounds either as I tried multiple boxes and manufacturers.

I just can't see whats causing the rounds to get stuck like that.

Have you tried giving the firing chamber and barrel a thorough
cleaning? (I know some folks go for years without cleaning the
barrel of a .22lr, but if you shave a piece of lead off a bullet
chambering a round, and the sliver gets flattened to the side
of the chamber, you can get extraction problems.)

Another possibility is that the rifle may have been dry-fired and the chamber wall is slightly peened - the expanded case may be hanging up on the peened area.
