Not sure where your at in east TN, but the cheapest I have found for a new one is at the Wally world in Sparta, TN. It is the blued version of the long 60 for $154 plus tax.

I did pick up a 795 for $50 plus $10 for the background check at a Pawn shop here local. It was a ton of fun until my wife fired it a few times. Now its not mine anymore:eek:

Jimmy, MiniMags are not hyper velocity. I shoot them as well, but get better accuracy with the CCI Standard Velocity, and Federal Auto-Match(getting hard to find around here). The CCI Blazer's work pretty good too.
Just for fun, here's my 60W bought at Wally's in '94 for $79. Trigger job, pillared action, free floated barrel, Simmons 22Mag 3-9X32 AO scope, and refinished stock. Clovers at 50 yrds are easy off bags. You can't beat a tricked 60, can't hunt with a semi here in PA-so it's a target rifle...

I sure am learning that these model 60s are a really fine little package. And new at Wally World for around 150+/- and then tax of course is about right. This being the blued version. The SS get you into the 200 range. maybe a tad more.

Next I've got to refine the ammo I will stock up on. This 22LR is pretty inexpensive so putting up 1,000 rounds or more shouldn't be too much of a strain on my budget.

But yes I'm loving these 60 Marlins alright. I still think the Ruger 10/22 is a fine rifle as well and if the opportunity to snag one cheap came or comes along I'll be on it like ducks on junebugs.

My Model 60 can shoot Winchester SuperX hollow points into 1/2 @ 50 yards. I love that rifle.
