Pretty much like the title says, I'm beginning my search for a gun dealer that carries stock or can order a Mateba for me and have it shipped to my FFL back home. Specifically, I'm looking for the 8" model, .454 Casull, nickel plated. I would really appreciate the help from anyone who knows where I might be able to find one. So far, I've found one guy based out of Florida, and he's asking $1700+ for the model I am looking for. Just tryin' to save a few "Benjamins", ya' know? haha. :D

Do they actually have stock? Their prices look a bit lower than what is on gunbrokers right now, and there ain't nuthin' on gunsamerica at all.

They don't keep stock, but their prices are correct! The reason they are so cheap is because he requires half down before placing the order to the manufacturer in Italy, then he gets the rest when it comes in. I talked to him at length and he's a really nice guy.

Hey I have a dumb question.

I see some pics of the Unica 6, with its barrel sticking out at the end.

I see other pics with the upper frame competely over the barrel.

Now...the former pics show the gun with the upper frame slid back, in battery as it were, right?

Or do newer models have shorter upper frame construction or something?

The ones that look like the barrel is sticking out of the end are just the model that has the screw-on compensator.

The barrel isn't fixed. It actually cycles along with the rest of the mechanism that is in the "slide" assembly.

Ah. I thought the 3" looked a bit long.

It is too bad that you can't get 'em for 700-800 anymore.

Isn't it rather difficult to place an order, with the factory, for an item that is no longer in production?

Or is Mateba back in business again?
He didn't say factory. That was my word. He said supplier. However, he did say he can get whatever model you want.

Also, does anyone have a picture of the Mateba with the slide back? For the life of me I can't tell where the slide is on them. haha

In & Outs

When the the breech is closed and locked (if lockable) and the weapon is ready for firing (whether loaded or not) the action is termed to be "in battery".

Out of battery means in a position incapable of firing.

Or where it shouldn't be fired.

Some of the new semi-auto pistols can fire "out of battery" and often blown cases or even Kabooms can result.

Mateba factory is out of business.
Here's a pic found on internet of a Mateba Autorevolver cal. .357 Mag with the slide back:

That's a real shame :( I've been dying to get my hands on a 6" blued .44Mag model. BTW, I used to live in Pavia years ago. I had no idea there was an arms manufacturer there!

Giolli Joker has told me that you can fire .45LC out of the .454 version, but unless it's a higher powered load, you need to change the spring.

LanEvo, get ahold of the people at AWA. They told me they can get pretty much any model I want, so I'm sure they can get you the 6" .44Mag.

Giolli Joker, maybe I'm just blind or not looking in the right area, but where exactly is area that the slide is missing from? That picture doesn't look any different from a normal Mateba pic. Also, do you know of where I could get some speedloaders that would fit the Mateba?

FSCJedi, I hope this picture can help:

BTW, the models shown have the first frame, without the four holes to mount accessories.
Maybe you can find speedloaders for .357 and .44 models, I'm pretty sure .454 ones aren't available... ask AWA however.
