Anybody know for sure whether or not the Hogue Overmolded Mauser 98 stock will fit a Yugo M48? Are there any other good synthetic stocks made specifically for the M48?

I don't believe so -- the Yugo reciever is slightly shorter.

(I think there's a few replacement stocks out there for Yugos, but it's been a while since I've seen 'em. Then again, I've not been looking either)

Thanks for the response.

I'm looking into various options for my Yugo M48. I have a new scout scope mount for it, but the screws interfere with the handguard. I don't want to mess with the stock, since I like the idea of being able to put it back together in its original military configuration, but I don't like the way it is now (and I love to shoot my M48, it's very accurate with the right ammo).

It seems some others have said the same thing, but nobody has been definitive (I love those overmolded stocks, I have one on my 10/22).

You might want to look into the ATI (Advanced Technology) Mauser 98 stock. It has a built-in Weaver scope mount and fits the Yugo M48. I have a Yugo M48 and the previous owner had it in that same stock and it worked fine, with no permanant alterations to the rifle. IIRC, the scope mount is long and can be used with either standard or scout scopes. If you just want the plain black one, it's about $80, and a bit more for a camouflage stock.
