I have a Mauser, that is stamped Standard Modell on the receiver, that is 8mm. All the parts are stamped with the same last numbers. On the left side there is 4 diffrent little stamps of crowns, with B, G, U, and N under them. It has an adjustable rear sight. I got it from my Grandpa when he passed away, which was along time ago. I was wandering if anyone could tell me approx. year, and if this was infact a WWI gun. It is I think all original, except I kinda remember him saying he changed the stock. Any ideas on approx price also? Thanks...-Joshua

Ehh, if stock is the only thing changed on it and nothing else cut it is easily restorable, With RC K98ks going for $300 + i'd expect an all matching sans stock Standard Model K98k to be $700 + area depends on condition

The "Standard Modell" was a 'military livery' sporter, made under the restrictions placed on Germany in the Treaty of Versaille. Its action and trigger are much better fitted and finished than a military K98k. It is not disimiliar to the Deutsche Post Gewehr, although less rare. Because of its appearance and caliber, it could in theory be pressed into the service of the Weimar Republic, but after Hitler came to power, Treaty restrictions were ignored, and regular K98k production resumed.
