this is my brand in the process of manufacturing as we speak . Im going to do an inital run of 1,000 or so in the following configurations

mk -6
mk- 3
mk -4
mk -9 (14 oz)

Stream , Fog or Foam.

5 million SHU
4% OC
1.50% Major capsaicinoids .

price is yet to be detrmined but expect a full website and online buying availibilty with in 3-6 months.
 
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the percentage of capsaicinoids the important number? Why do manufacturers tend to stress the other numbers instead? And yeah, it's going to be hot stuff with 1.5% capsaicinoids. :evil:

Just a guess, but marketing. 5 million and 4% are "better" to most folks than 1.5%.

Looks to be nice specs. Good luck with the endeavor.
 
its not just one factor unlike people like to point out. Fox labs at .67% is way hotter and way faster acting then Sabre red at 1.33% caps. Why is this? Fox Labs is way more refined , sabre is red becuase there are all kinds of sugars and pepper pieces that will actually block pore obsorbtion of the capsasinoids.

also the whole SHU thing is whats known as a taste test . it can not be measured by a machine , human pain can not be measured by a machine when it comes to the sensation of burning.

the 4% oc is also not a marketing tool its a safety tool. while my product will prob kick up full burn in 1.5-3 seconds and it will be so intense . you will also decontaminate as far as swelling and the major pain goes in 15 or 20 minutes.

Those things all put together (low oc% high capsaicinoids and high shu rating) has not been done before , all just in the name of cost , this is a one of a kind formula . Once i get some samples in a few months and my liability insurance i will start sending some out.
 
IIRC, Scoville Heat Units are the number of drops of water needed to be placed on the tongue to deaden the flame of a pepper.

I'd like to see a flat pepper-spray dispenser, the size and shape of a Kel-Tec pistol.
 
i was actually thinking about getting a dispenser designed that would be a tac light size and shape that could be mounted under a shotgun or rifle . it would be a neat and discreet less lethal option . kinda like how they do now with the X-26 Tazers being mounted under M4's

The trouble with gunmounted dispensers is that in Texas for instance, pointing a firearm at a person, unless you are justified in using deadly force at the time is a crime; deadly conduct.

I want one I could carry concealed- ie not round and long. I'm not sure what NC's laws on minors packing spray, but if I can, I'd want one that was comfortable to carry and easy to conceal. The pistol shape would be easier to aim.

They are all flattish, but that is not the issue. A pepper dispenser that looks like, and therefore handles, points and operates "like a Kel-Tec pistol".

A "pistol" points like an extension of your index finger, as opposed to a can (however flat sided) where you have less "point" feel, and your thumb or index finger is bent over the top for the button. A "pistol" style trigger is also much more natural, especially for those that shoot .. pistols.
 
Looks like you have a good formulation. There have been plenty of discussions on what makes a good form for the spray to be carried and used so you might get some good ideas from the previous pepper spray discussions.

I'd be reluctant to put a spray on a handgun rail simply because of tragic consequences of a user confusing one trigger for another under stress.

Caps/covers/triggers/buttons have been a topic that has received a lot of attention in the past with particular annoyance at systems that are overly complicated to move from "safe" to "fire".

Litlle OT: NorestRDS you seem a little familiar with the topic so what do you do you know about PAVA, it is something good or is the regular OC better? Pro, drawbacks?
 
i honestly have no idea. i have been looking for a can but cant find it in the US only pepper balls that use pava .

Fox Labs also has a chemical (degreaser)in it that pulls oils of the skin to allow the pepper spray to act faster.

Now that's more like it.

I notice on the "security-discount" site the Kimber Lifeact type JPX double-barreled dispenser is 299 euros(!) Sheesh, the same item here in the USA goes for less than $100 IIRC.
