I see a lot of folks speak highly of 1911 magazines such as Wilson Combat, Chip McCormick, etc.

Anybody use Mec-Gar 1911 mags? Seems like they make a good product for many other pistols.

I've got a couple of 8 rounders that came with a Charles Daly several years ago and after tuning the followers a bit they work just as well as my Chip McCormicks.

Based on how the mec-gar mags I have for a variety of other pistols work, I'd wager their 1911 mags work just fine. Don't have any personal experience with any though.

I ahd three 8-rounders from Mec-Gar for a Colt Double Eagle. They worked flawlessly.

Let them go with the Double Eagle in a sale because the base plates were too wide to fit in the mag well of my Kimber, for which I have several Wilsons.

I have not used them but have heard mixed reviews kind of like most 1911 mags. LOL

I have a few 7 rounders and a few 6 rounders for my LWOM.They have worked well and I haven't had any issues with them.I use the 7 rounders in my Kimber series 1 custom classic after the factory mag stopped locking the slide open reliably.

I don't know about their 1911 mags but I have 2 of their S&W Model 59 15 round mags I use in a Kel-Tec P-11 with zero problems in 2000+ rounds.

I have used MecGar magazines in 1911's (9mm, 40 S&W and 45 ACP), and Para Ordnance wide bodies (9mm, 40 S&W & 45ACP). All functiioned reliably the only problems were with those designed for the PO would not hold the slide back after firing the last round.

Recently I have switched to Metalform magazines for my 1911's in all three calibers. CDNN was selling them at bargain prices and they function relaibly in my Dan Wesson PM-9 (9mm), STI Trojan (40S&W) and several 1911's in 45ACP.

I find the Mec-Gar 8 rounders to work very smoothly, well made, and like them quite well.

I swear by MecGar mags - have them for 1911, Sigs and CZ pistols - all work flawlessly.

They work great for me, but I prefer a flush fit mag in a 1911. They OEM the mags for an awful lot of guns and I've never heard anything bad about their "aftermarket" mags.

Mecgar mags are the only way to go for any double stack semi-auto IMHO. I had a Mecgar mag for an Officers 1911 I had a year or so ago, and it was the best of the ones I had for the Officer model. I also traded into a mid size Charles Daly recently, that came with 2 mags. One of them is a stainless Mecgar full size 7 round mag and it is awsome, feeds smooth as all get up.
Normally for my 1911's I run CMC's or Wilson Combat's, but the 2 Mecgar mags I have run into have been great!

Nice, thanks! Next time I order anything from Midway I'll add a couple to my cart.

I'm one of the rare few who have had problems with a Mec-Gar mag. My P226 Mec-Gar mag developed a divot in the follower, which leads to FTF. I only fired maybe 100 rounds through it. My Sig Sauer factory mags have had no such problem.

MecGar are the factory supplier for Browning Hi Power pistols and several other manufacturers. Their quality is well known and respected.

I just bought 2 Mec Gar 8 round 1911 mags from Bo Tactical. They perform flawlessly. My P11 came with 2 MG mags that are also great. $20 free shipping.
