I picked up a Hi-Point 995 last week. I like it very much, and it made me realize how handy a 9mm carbine could be if 9mm is the caliber of your choice. The only thing that bothered me about it was the 10 round magazines. This got me to thinking about the Kel-Tec Sub 2000 with the G17 grip. Since the G17 is my HD gun, I really liked the idea of the S2K with 17 and 33 round mags. I picked it up tonight, and like it very much. Now if it shoots as well as it looks, I will be very happy with it. Thought I'd post some pics for those interested in this two carbines.

I've also been thinking of buying a Keltec Sub 2000. Which do you like better, other than mag capacity?
Reliability being equal, if I had to choose between the two, I would go with the Kel-Tec. This is based mostly on the compact size and folding stock. It also seems to be a little nicer in the fit and finish department. Much easier to disassemble for a good cleaning also. If the Hi-Point were the more reliable of the two, I would have no problem going with the Hi-Point. If your just looking for a general "plinker" and not worried about magazine capacity or ease of cleaning, the Hi-Point would make a fine gun. The only other thing that I've mentioned in a couple of other posts that concerned me with the Hi-Point is the fact the the magazines feel poorly constructed compared to the Glock mags in my Sub. The Hi-Point magazine has a groove that you must insert the bullet into before pushing them into the mag, and the bullets often seem to be pointed down after being loaded into the magazine. I have to push down on the rear of the round so that the front of the round pops up and sits correctly in the mag. That said, I had no feeding issues at all with the Hi-Point. I did read one other review though that thought that this magazine issue could cause reliability issues if one did not smack the mag and make sure the round was pointed up before loading. That said, I've read many reviews and threads on the Hi-Point claiming to have perfect reliability.

Oh ok, now I'm confused. Was your Uzi a slotted bolt conversion or is that just a display barrel?

I've probably got 1000 rounds or so through my Sub2000 (G17 Mags) with zero problems so far. At 50 yards it's good for 2-2.5" groups, seemingly no matter which ammo goes through it.
I've changed out the flashlight since the pics were taken. I've got the stock extension and forward rail on mine with a First Samco flashlight adaptor.
My other 9mm that packs up even smaller.
3CH contract Inglis High Power with shoulder stock. It's not nearly as accurate with my old eyes but it's still fun.
