Is anybody going to San Antone?
Looking for a strong side holster for my new to me ruger redhawk .45 the purpose of said holster is for field/hiking and casual concealment under a shirt or jacket, mainly looking at the Mernickle PS6DA for double action revolvers or Simply Rugged's famous sourdough pancake, the only custom leather work place I am familiar with is lobo gun leather but didnt see anything their that would suit my fancy, If yall know of another maker with a holster for those requirements please holler them out.

Might want to take a look at El Paso Saddlery's holsters too.

I think there are a lot of quality makers out there. I too carry a Redhawk for CCW and am happy with the sourdough pancake. It hugs my 4 o'clock well and has the advantage of becoming a true field chest holster with the Chesty Puller straps.

The Model 120 is a great choice! Was looking at it the other night for one of my Blackhawks.

Just received an email that my new Simply Rugged for my 3" Kimber K6S is in the mail. Ordered it with the IWB straps. I have found that these holsters tug in tight and have very good retention.

Rob at Simply Rugged makes a good holster, I have the Sourdough for field use for my 6" GP100.

Something to consider with all concealed holsters is the number of layers of leather in the holster and the belt you are wearing. Simply rugged. 2 layers, belt one layer. + the gun. Mernickle, at least 3 layers + the belt + the gun.

This is not a knock on Mernickle, He makes good holsters, but it is easy to wind up with a bulky wad hanging on your hip with holsters from any maker. Not to mention belt clips located over the cylinder of the gun with IWB holsters.

I use to carry N frame S&W in a Simply Rugged holster on horse back and on an ATV on the ranch. It was snug and secure.

I'd love to see a pic when you get it all set up.

Also, you can get some beautiful designs carved in a simply rugged. Rob sends any of his holsters to be carved to my uncle here in AK. Next time you look at that carved leather, know that it was done in Big Lake Ak!
