Do any of you have any experience with these magazines? I understand the are made in the USA , and from what I read are very good magazines. As far as I know , I do not think I ever used any of them

I spent 20 years in the US Coast Guard, and when I retired in 1989, we were still using the 1911 45 acp but those magazines were not marked

Metalform 9mm 1911 magazines are all I use in my Colt Model O-1992. The original magazines that came with the gun were Colt-marked Metalform magazines.

Dan Wesson uses metalform mags for their 9mm 1911s. They use/used Checkmate for the 45 acp.

Not a single issue in either of my 9 or 45 DWs.

I too have lots of them for 9mm 1911's.

For 1911's I test different mags like this, to see what the gun in question operates best with and go from there.

"Colt" magazines from that era would have been Metalform mags. Of course, at that time, you could have been using mags from the 1960's, that could have been made by almost anybody.

My '80's-'90's era Metalform "Colt" mags have been just fine.

Colt's current "factory" mag maker is CheckMate.

I have found Metalform .45 ACP and .38 Super to be good, especially if 7 and 9 are enough.
Likewise the 9x9mm "front ramp" Metalforms are very good.
I went 'round and 'round with their 10x9mm; eventually ending up with .38 followers to get good feeding with 9mm ball.

Metal form worked well for me.

The Metalform 9mm, .38 Super and .45 ACP magazines have become my favorites. I fact, I used the same Metal Form .45 ACP mags. for what must have been a decade or so. I carried them for duty, training, qualification, etc. Between training and qualifications, they remained loaded. In all that time, I never changed a magazine spring or follower. Those Metalform magazines just worked. I'm retired now, still have those same magazines, and would not hesitate to carry them again...

Another vote for the GTG pool! (I've got a 7 round that I picked out of a toss box @ Robert Clevee's Marina in Salina, Ks in the 90's) Works in every 5in gvt. I've ever had. regards

Perhaps I should have mentioned that my Metal Form .45 magazines are the 7-rounders, and my 9mm magazines are the 9-round front ramp/no rear spacer type. My Metal form .38 Super magazines are the 9 round type with the rounded followers..
