I just finished reading Seal Team Six: Memoirs of an Elite navy SEAL Sniper and in the book the main protagonist mentions that he always carries a very sharp Microtech automatic knife. Looking it up online I found a range of knives made by Microtech and they are all stunningly beautify and look utterly lethal. They are also priced at over $400 with many costing in the high $600 range. I'm curious as to the effectiveness and utility of such a knife. I assume the blade is strictly used as a dagger and as such is less about utility and all about killing. That said, the blades look rather fragile. What would be the attraction or utility of the auto knife over say a boot dagger or other fixed blade option?
