But on the 1000rd balloon off hand with the .50 I would have thought by his standard of shooting would have been a direct hit on target. I remember thinking before he cracked off a shot that if he impacts anywhere on that plate that balloon is history. Still very impressive, not sneering just thinking he would have went for the balloon being miculek....

I'm two weeks older than he is. Why can't I shoot that good? He gets timed with a stopwatch, I get timed with a calendar.

I still want to see him shoot stock guns with factory loads someday. Definitely not downplaying his skills, he just loves him some race guns and/or magnaporting

Same. The vids where he has shooting companions like IV8888 and others, seems like when they pick up his gun they shoot really well and you know the gun and loads are just tuned to absolute perfection. Again, not downplaying the skills.

IIRC I have a faint recollection of seeing a vid of him shooting stock guns, I'll try to dig it up

That video was a fail. Jerry pulls out his race gun and and this guy is just standing there with a factory m&p. It was very awkward

The one with IV8888? Hmm. I'll have to check it out again, I do remember Jerry doing a mag burn with his M&P racer with I think a 27 rd comp mag and then Eric takes a crack at it with Jerry's gun and I remember thinking Eric had some pretty impressive splits. He shot well. Obviously not on the same level as Jerry but I was surprised at Eric's speed, I'm sure the race gun didnt hurt.....

I don't care where he hit on that target, 1,000 yards offhand, WOW!

It appears from the slo-mo that he is firing each round the moment the action closes. In other words, even a full-auto sear could not fire any quicker.

Have shot SuperVel 180s years ago. I still shoot my M29 8" double action at times, just for fun, but with max loads & 250 gr lead @ 25 yards. . My Gun is Mag Na Ported.

Just saying , something to try. A good reason to shoot more. :)

But at my age, 75, not buying factory 180 gr ammo, timer & steel plate thing to try it.

Question/anyone- At what distance is Mr. Miculek shooting ? How big is the target? Measurements?

And she's not hard on the eyes.
I noticed while watching an interview video with the two of them that she certainly has his chin. Wonder if that's why she shoots so good? LOL

The titanium moved as though it had a liquid quality.
That was very silly - but impossible to not like!

One of JM's advice with revolvers is NOT to reduce the trigger rebound spring too much. With a too light of a spring it takes too long for the trigger to reset and you end up either waiting on the reset or you try to pull the trigger before it is fully reset.

I don't have the exact quote, but he has said words to the effect that: "If you're willing to shoot a million rounds on your own dime getting good, you may get lucky and find a sponsor to pay for your second million." I believe he has stated that before sponsors started paying for his ammo, he reloaded over 800,000 centerfire rounds but that he doesn't know how much factory ammo or rimfire he shot during that timeframe.

<Finally got to the range, what with this lockdown, myocardial infarction (me), and hip replacement (Miss Kitty).>

One thing I've discovered is that some "tricks" aren't that hard if you just get up and try them.
NOW LET ME BE CLEAR. I'm NOWHERE near JMs level. Not even 50%. But, I have tried some of his feats and if nothing else they're an eye-opener to a different level and feel of shooting.

I can do 6 shot in 1 second (first to last). Nothing fancy, just a 4" 686, tuned a little (by me) and some .38spls running @128 power factor (124grain bullets). I still got it today.

    20200522_122800.jpg

Now for the .44mag. Running a 629-6 with minimal tuning. 14# rebound spring and removed the unessential pieces from the action. Haven't lightened strain screw at this point. It is only a 5" but it is MagNaPorted, which doesn't help with the recoil but lessons the muzzle rise. Shooting 240gr bullets at 965fps which works out to 231 Power Factor. Had done a few hundred dry fire, but I swear that actually shooting ammo enables you to shoot faster. Maybe the recoil helps bring your trigger finger off the trigger faster or something.

NO I DIDN'T make it. The best I got was 1.14 seconds. The target was shot at 7yds. I brought it forward so you could see the hits.

    20200522_122030.jpg

Again, I will never come close to JM, but I can swagger just a little because I tried.

It takes me 3 seconds just to bring the gun up from the holster, aim it and pull the trigger.

Apparently you've never heard the joke about a tourist in NYC asking for directions on how to get to Carnegie Hall.

I've got 4 months on him but I suspect he practices more than me.

If I had ammo supplied for free and lived on a shooting range, I'd be a lot better, too!

Eh, the .44Mag is obsolete, can barely kill a fawn these days. Even the .460 is getting old in the tooth and the deer / moose /caribou and bears give it a head start .... just to be sporting, mind you. Soon we will have the .500 WhizBang Rocket to be announced at SHOT 21 to rectify these matters.
