Masks and social distancing and yet we still handle money. It's hard to be a believer.
I've not fired a shot since October. I did manage to pick up 4 boxes of 12 gauge bird shot the other day at Walmart. I may go out and shoot a box through my 500 in a couple days. Just to keep in tune with it. But other than that I don't expect to shoot anymore anytime soon.
I was in a local hardware store the other day and saw a single box of 250 Hornady 55 grain HP’s, $52. I almost bought them, then figured since I’ve probably got 5-6,000 I’d leave them for someone else. I suppose I could have flipped them, but then I’d be no better than “those guys”
FWIW...not too many months ago there were quite a few threads here telling people to stock up while AR’s were selling below dealer cost and ammo was plentiful. Guys never seem to have the money then, but do when there’s a shortage and prices triple.
my local shop got 10 boxes of 6.5 hornady eldx in i bought a new bergara wanted to zero with the eldx i used some cheaper stuff to get zeroed shot 3 rounds of eldx that leaves me 37 deer shots by the way paid 100.00 for 2 boxes, hope i dont need any more until prices come down
I agree with that. Any of the seasoned shooters who have been gun owners for 5 years or more should have at least a thousand rounds of ammo for each gun they shoot. The only ones I don't have at least that much ammo for are the 25 and 32acp. I have 450 rounds for each of those. And no I don't expect you to have a thousand rounds of 30-06 or 270 but for the handguns and rifles like your AR and Glock then yes you should have had at least that much on hand at all times.
And I remember not but a year or two ago getting email and flyers notices from Midway for primers and they were either waving the Hazmat or cutting it in half and the price for the primers were the lowest I had seen in a long while. They had a glut on hand and no one was buying. Not even me. But I have 23,000 primers on hand and didn't need any and still don't.
I reload 99% of all the ammo I shoot except of course 22 RF. But I do regret not buying a couple of cases of 9mm just to have for family and friends. I have gave away 800 rounds of 9mm and 3,000 22 rounds plus 12 and 20ga shotgun shells in the last 6 months. And I can do that because I planned ahead. I learned about shortages in the 1996 Primer Scare and said never again will I be caught short on ammo or reloading components. And I never have. I did what everyone should have done when there was plenty to be had. This is NOT the ammo companies fault.
Man am I Bad. I don't even have a AR or even a Glock. And, I think a gun owner (Seasoned or not) "Should" "Have" any amount of ammo they want on hand. Be it one round or 10,000. Regardless of how long they have been gun owners. I don't think anybody here has the right to set or expect any standard on anybody else. If you have yours, Good for you. But that's gives you no right to talk down to Anyone else. Just saying.
I'm not talking down at all. I really do wish everyone had stacks of ammo and there wouldn't be the shortage we have now. And who wouldn't like to have a boat load of ammo at this time? Sorry you took it that way but that wasn't what I meant at all. And I sure wouldn't talk down to the good people here. And I mentioned the AR and Glock because they are more of a generic to what most are shooting. Semi auto guns that go through lots of ammo.
But this repeats just about every election especially if it looks like the Dems will win. And thats the time to start setting back ammo. Way before the election and this time with the dems winning and this overblown Covid mess plus add in all the summer riots and new shooters there was a real load put on the ammo supply. So take it how you want and if you are one of the ones looking for ammo now I bet when it becomes common again you are better stocked up next time. I was caught short before but planned better as soon as I could. I learned a hard lesson.
Its been said before. A gun without ammo is just an expensive paperweight.
if CA type restrictions are adopted by fed what then?
What are CA restrictions? Never heard of them.
I agree that we may as well laugh.
It does more good than complaining.
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. Take the opportunity to smile even when things are going like they are. We've been here before. A lot of folks are forgetting that.......................................just like they do every time we find ourselves here.
Don't forget to read the part about having a CA registered firearm to buy ammo. Their whole system Not working well for some unknown reason i understand.
That’s just crazy. I read it until I was getting cross eyed. What a load of crap folks in California have to put up with. And I truly hope it never happens here. But you just never really know. That’s why everyone needs to have a good stock of ammunition on hand at all times. Buy it when you can when there is plenty to be had for when times like this happen.
Time, means and opportunity. The three must line up for great things to happen. Reality is that they seldom do. Sometimes we just don’t see when it happens until they fall out of line.
The problem with laws like that is that all law gets ignored or openly disregarded. I hear from my LEO friends down there the formerly illegal pot distribution industry has a new product to exploit.
We'd of had no problem if only all of us all had remembered the 2 word Boy Scout motto, and acted accordingly. lol
Scouts taught me alot. Main thing is being prepared for any and everything. Its easier then most think.
i think it worse this time more than 50 percent of the people agree with the gun grabbers
Forgot to mention. Only $55 shipping.
Seems we have reached the end of this one.
