Hi,

I'm interested in an Aaimpoint type sighting system for my AR. I have never used one before so I don't want to spend a lot of money until I know I'll like it. I looked at a Millett SP2 in a store and I understand they now have a Zoom Dot available.

I was wondering if anyone has tried a Millett and how they liked it. I hear Millett makes good products but I'm not sure about their electronics. I know they won't compare to an Aimpoint but would it be a good rugged, dependable first time product to try? Any better choices?

Thanks

I think the Milletts are great for low recoil applications. I don't know how well it would hold up to a more serious rifle. I've used a SP1 on a Ruger 9mm carbine and on rimfire rifles. Worked very well with those.

We’ve had a SP2 living atop a .357-magnum revolver for several years and it has been very reliable. It also has much less parallax error than less expensive red dots or even some more expensive ones.

I install a Millett SP-2 scope on my Colt AR-15 Carbine about six months ago and have been more than pleased with it. It's a great scope for aging eyes!

I have put about 250 rounds throught the AR with a Zoom Dot and it is working great and holding zero. I did use different mounts (Burris Xtreme Tactical 30mm) to co witness 1/3. Very happy with it and will be attending a tactical training soon to put it through the test.
