It has been decades since I have done any competitive shooting and I would like to get in to it again at a fun social level.
It really doesn’t matter what type. Long distance or Bullseye rifle or pistol, practical or action pistol, rim fire, air gun….
If anyone knows of any good clubs doing fun matches in Minnesota (preferably West Central) or NoDak (East Central) please let me know.

www.idpa.com

Both will have club finder functions on the website to show where all the local clubs for any given area now.

Also, Practiscore (originally developed by a USPSA guy) has become pretty much the standard match management software for all shooting sports that I'm aware of.

www.practiscore.com

Click on "matches", zoom in on your area on the map and it will likely show where matches are in your area across any number of shooting sports that use Practiscore.

Sorry I didn't see your post until now. There is not a lot on the iron range. I am active in NRA and CMP rifle shooting. There are several matches per year at DuLuth and also in the Grand Forks and Moorhead area. We also have 300meter matches fired from an indoor shoot house through the winter near St Francis. These are a bit more informal. We do shoot the national match course, most shoot a service rifle, although an M1 Garand or "other" AR with optics would be welcomed as well. There is a rule there that FMJ or HPBT bullets must be used. No hunting or tipped bullets as they are hard on the electronic targets. I believe there are also some informal shoots in various disciplines at Grand Rapids, Hibbing and Virginia.

This is the bible for rifle shooting events in MN and surrounding areas. The header says 2019-21, but it is current. https://www.mrra.org/schedule.htm The summer is pretty empty right now as clubs are setting their dates. It will start updating and filling up soon though.

New York Mills or Perham has an active competition, I think it is precision rimfire but not sure. I have a summer place on Shell Lake.

Bummer. That’s quite a trip from Bemidji. I will check in to it though. It would be a good excuse to get a Ruger Precision Rifle.
Thanks

simlar issues where I live. good time to perhaps gather like minded people and start a local event?

The closest anything I know to your area would be Wadena, I think they are holding NRA bullseye matches coming up in the next couple weekends.

The local range I work part time at has a very informal winter rifle league they support and are almost finished with. the range itself has no control or input over the league other than to just be the venue. It was also organized by a group of like minded local shooters and I believe is now in it's 7th year. This year there are 19 competitors, including 2 wives and one teen child. The league runs for 10 weeks and it shoots ranges from 100/200/300 yards and a variety of targets, not just bullseyes. They charge a nominal fee of $75.00 which covers administrative cost, targets, a winners trophy and then they also pay out the top 3 places.

This has been my first year of involvement and so far I am enjoying the heck out of it! From what I see at this one the hardest part is finding someone to organize and run it. Then once started it seems to self perpetuate. My next regret is that they don't have something similar during the spring/summer.

Contact info? Mystery range doesn’t help much b

Left it out as this range is way down in SE Wisconsin and figured it would be out of range. Intention was to provide info on what we are doing and that may be your best option to try and organize something similar. But I can provide you with a link to the range if you would like.

No worries. I’ve been on the organizing end before so I know how much work that is. I really just want to be a participant any more. Lol
