Being its saturday the better half went off to yard sales with youngest(dumbest) daughter( the one we have custody of her children) and the grand kids. She was hoping this quality time could be used to bond with her and heal some fractures in thier relationship.

Me, I was left with a list of tasks thou shall do before we come home:fire:

They come home all happy with stuff they cant just live without, including another battery operated quad for the kids to ride out back.:D

Again she cane home with another knife and says "I always wanted one of these." Out of the bag come a chinese SAK knockoff.:cuss::fire:

Really I say, "well this one is going in the trash" and we promply went to the knife supply.com web site and after looking over the various types she picks out the Victorinox Spartan.
Should be here by thursday.
Not a good day for me. Did a bunch of work, missed my nap, and had to pay for the knife also.

But she is worth it.

Kids and grand kids; what can I say? The Vic Spartan is a good choice. She'll probably loose it. I know you didn't want to hear that. :)

Straight pin

bikerdoc.

Spartan is a good choice, and is the one I use, and have kept in vehicles, emergency kits...etc.

Re: Straight Pin.

Open the corkscrew, and if you look at the handle, back near the hinge area, you will see a small hole.

That hole is for a a straight pin.
You will also note the straight pin is held secure, as to how it fits against the corkscrew.

Yes, Miss Cindi will carry on and make over you and "You are so smart" and all that goopy , smushy stuff gals do.

Vic SAK Spartan, Tinker and some other other models have this hole...and it is for a straight pin.

I know nobody wants to here this, but I bought a Chinese Knock off SAK right after I got home from Paris Island, and carried it through SOI and the Desert Storm. As a matter of fact I still have it, and the only reason it isn't in regular use, is because the Gerber Multiplier is a much better tool.

Realbigo,
You are OK. You probably got one of the few models that are actually heat treated properly.
There are a few offshore product that do this, most notably RoughRider.
