I was at the gun shop yesterday and saw a Mitchell Arms 1911 full size in .45 I know that Mitchell has come and gone a couple of times, I had one of their shotguns that was really a combat Mossberg riot gun. My dealer, who doesn't always know everything, claimed it was forged and made in Texas. At the price, around $420, it looked like a good deal.

I suspect this is just another cast frame Phillipine model, not that there is anything wrong with that. If it is forged and USA made, its a deal. Anybody know anything about it?

Actually the frame and slide are made by Caspian for Mitchell Arms.
The same frame, slide and barrel can be had from Sarco as surplus. The frames are marked Foster Arms. They are cast. Well made cast I might add.

The Mitchell Arms 1911 has a lot of nice features. The ones I've handled are well done and nicely finished. I can't say anything about reliability, since I never fired one. But its a 1911, so I'm confident it can be made right without much trouble if there's any functioning issue.
I'de say its a good deal at that price.
