Mitchell High Standard clones

Looking for information about:
The "Mitchell" line on High Standard clones.

Both the "Texas" and "California" manufacture.

Understand that there were two different (sequential) companies making these stainless versions of the High Standard originals.

Quality and relative features of the various versions
(ie Victor, Victor II, Trophy, Trophy II etc.)

I undestand that they are not the same quality as the
High Standard originals, but moving on from there.....

What are peoples experience with them as shooters

For the money avoid them like the plaque. Many have had various issues. They look like the originals, but the comparison stops there. The rejects High Standard was putting out as they closed their doors in 84' were better pistols. There are to many fine old original High Standards still on the market to consider those supposedly clones.

Both the Mitchell and Texas High Standards seem to have earned their bad reputations the old-fashioned way: by working for them.

Okay, I'll be the other side of the coin

I've actually owned 2. The first was a Mitchell Sportking. I can't remember ever having a problem with it, other than it didn't like to feed Rem Yellowjackets. Used to carry it everywhere to call squirrels to dinner with. Unfortunately, hard times hit and it was the gun or the electricity. A few months back I replaced it with a Trophy II. Put a reddot scope on this one, and it shoots easy 2 inch groups off hand at 25 yrds with Aguila subsonic ammo, and I'm a horrible offhand shooter. Now granted, this one I only have around 1200 rds thru so far, so it could fall apart tomorrow. No, it ain't a High Standard, but I'd put mine up against any ruger or browning out there.
