MK3 That Breaks Down Like A 4

I have a friend who recently got what he says is a very late production Ruger Mark 3 Hunter that he claims breaks down like a MK4.

Is he mistaken or has anyone ever heard of such an animal?

I have not seen the gun yet and am just curious...

In my opinion that would be a Mark IV with Mark III markings. I've seen some strange transition guns through the years but have no special knowledge of those pistols.
