Went out shooting with my son last week, took his home made FAL, its a South African kit on a DSA receiver with a folding stock and an Eotech, I took my new Bushmaster M4 with a Colt 4X scope, about six or seven handguns and a 1941 Mod 39 VKt. We sighted the rifles at around 100 yds,had fun with the pistols, then took out the Mod 39. It took three sight adjustments but I actually got three rounds touching using Barnaul 200g soft points. The undeterminable orgin 7.62x54 milsurp ammo did 8" groups. I was shooting prone with sling pulled real tight around arm and into shoulder. It fired a better group with iron sights than the other two rifles.

I love the M39. I have three, a Belgian barrel, a Civil Guard Sky and a 1970 "Sneak". I love them like they were my own children. :)

Before I got my Swiss K31s, they were the best shooting surplus rifles I ever got. With match ammo, one of them will give even the K31s a good contest. It's amazing how the Finns took the rough and crude Russian Mosin and turned it into such a gem. The history surrounding them is cool too.

If you ever talk to a Finn who knows guns, they are very proud of those rifles too.
