So I ordered an upper for my AR through Model 1 sales. I have a couple questions about it for billing, etc... Every single time that I call the phone is busy. I have tried probably 100 times over the past couple weeks and it is always busy. I also sent emails, no response. Has anyone had similar issues with them? I am a little discouraged and almost wish I had gone through someone else.

Probably a case of they are so busy, like every other AR manufacturer out there right now. Due mainly to panic buying worrying about the possible upcoming reinstating of the AWB... I'd say to keep trying...

Hang in there before the panic the CS was great I even had them weigh an upper so I could compare wieght of my existing upper. They are usually great.

Keep trying! Patience and persistence is about all you can do right now. Maybe go buy something to bide your time. Like a cheap .22, or Dostoevsky's "Brothers Karamazov". :)

I had a good experience with them, too, when I've bought a specialty upper from them -- before Obama...

I have also had good experiences with J&T Distributing. This is from their website:

Attention: Due to incredibly high numbers of orders since the election J&T Distributing cannot guarantee any shipping times.

We will do our best to address each customer order in the order it is received and process them as quickly as possible. Please bear with us as our inventory is rapidly depleting. Please keep in mind that our vendors have also been overwhelmed so we are doing the best we can to get your order out.

Please DO NOT call and ask about the status of your order! This only takes up our builders valuable time. Our staff is doing the best we can to pull the orders as they come in. If you must check on your order, please email [email protected]. We thank you for your patience and your continued patronage with us.

It's not just Model 1 Sales. These companies have been set up for a certain volume of sales. Their offices and staff are only so big. If they got more phone lines, they probably couldn't answer them all.

These are good old small American companies, where a few people have gone into business and have been providing good service and products to us -- products and services that big firearms makers don't offer even if they sell some ARs now.

Bear with them, and it will be good for all of us.

I too order an AR kit from Model 1, during the first part of December. The end of January, I emailed them, inquiring about shipping, just a rough time line of how far they are behind, 2 mos. 3mos. etc. I never heard back from them. I also tried calling and the same busy signal. I would be happy with a simple post on their web site saying that they are behind and look for orders within so many weeks or months.

I had a buddy order from them last summer and he was extremely pleased with his outfit and the company.

Keep the rubber side down, and the shiny side up.

The Model 1 Sales 16" fluted bull barrel kit I ordered Nov 15th arrived a couple of weeks ago. The 9mm Carbine kit I ordered Nov 10th I'm still waiting for. My credit card was not charged until it shipped so I've no complaints.

An interesting point...

... from one poster over on AR15.com, it would appear that Model 1 is selling kits/parts at shows local to Model 1, but telling phone/on-line orders that a delay is default at this time. Here's the link:

I post this not so much to create an issue, but more to ask/pose the question as to what does one believe. I've had two upper assemblies on order for some six months now, with the first being two months beyond the original prospective delivery date that was stated by the Model 1 representative. When I call to check status, the excuse is given that they're waiting on this or that part delivery. Then I find the post from an individual that actually has purchased and witnessed sales at shows local to Model 1, that they're selling what is supposedly not available because the "parts" aren't available?!? I guess my main question would be, just when is the gun show season over?

As others have said, they are a great company and pleasant CS. I ordered an new 5.56 barrel from them about a year ago with not a single problem. Be patient and dont become discouraged they will get back with you. Barrel has been reliable too, accurate with about 2,800 rounds in it so far.

The gun show season never ends in North Texas... and yes, I've personally seen Model 1 items being sold at shows. Now, that doesn't mean it's Model 1 themselves selling them. I'm pretty certain that the table of Model 1 stuff I saw being sold at the last show wasn't Model 1, but a third party reselling Model 1 stuff.

I ordered an ar-15 upper kit from Model 1 last summer before the hysteria started, I received it just a couple of days later. I'm sure the delay is getting yours is due to the huge volume of orders that they are working through.

Hmmm, the third party sellers of Model 1 equipment at recent show in N. Texas still begs the question; if these sellers are purchasing the items(regardless of full kits, upper assemblies, etc), just what type of respect(or partial/complete) or lack of respect does this show to those of us that have committed to purchase(s) before such sales were made to these parties?

As for me personally, my first order was placed before the later dates that the latter posters on the previous AR15.com link are now receiving delivery on. When I last called, I was informed that my date range was to be started at a date/time that should have by now at least garnished a notification of delivery to be expected. Perhaps a call next week and a inquiry is in order.

Wanna bet these gun show dealers/speculators got their stuff back in September or October once it seemed pretty clear who would win?

I don't suppose you actually know when the gun show vendors made their orders do you?

No it isn't third party vendors. It is Model 1 sales at the local DFW gunshows. Every company does the same thing. I ordered a Rock River Arms lower parts kit w/2 stage NM Trigger in early Oct. 2008 from a RRA dealer.I just recieved it a couple weeks ago. I called RRA several times complaining about their lack of shipping parts to their dealers after I know of a couple guys that ordered them direct from RRA at a raised price and they got their LPK's within 10 days of placing the order with RRA.
It's free enterprise at its best and worst at the same time.
I have and will continue to buy from Model 1 Sales, they are a good group of people, but the demand for the products they sell has just been crazy and they are just trying to sell all they can as fast as they can get it.
I have my last lower finished and who knows when I'll be able to get my 300 Fireball upper from Model 1.I'm just waiting for things to die down before I place my order.

Good guys-- they are right up the road (20 minutes) from me. They frequent the DFW gun shows, and always seem like good eggs-- probable just busy as heck...

It would appear that the thread over on AR15.com has been moved from the original as listed earlier in this thread. The new location can be found here:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=418451&page=20

It appears that possibly a moderator had relocated the thread, however there was no MOVE notification(as there is generally on a relocated thread, still active but not locked/deleted). Enjoy!
