I have a post 64 model 70 Winchester that is in .264 mag. the barrel is now worn out and the finish is gone so I am thinking about making a tactical rifle out of it, I located a new .338 win mag barrel and my question is, will I have to do any other work to the gun besides have the barrels swapped.

Don't pull it if you don't plan to use it and don't use it if you don't plan to kill!

No, other then possibly some stock work if the new barrel is a different profile.

The .264 & .338 belted mags are the same except for caliber, so the magazine & bolt face are fine.

The new barrel will have to be properly head-spaced by a gunsmith.

If it's a take-off barrel, it is possible to run into problems if the chamber is already too deep to get proper head-space on a different action.
