Damn! The next time my daughter comes over I'm going to learn how to post pictures! Then you men will see my 1952 standard in 270 Winchester. They used what looks like todays deluxe wood back in those days and the blue is soooo deep it looks purple.
I got it in 1980 from the original owner along with all the original papers, box, hang tag and his receipt - all as pristine as the rifle. He gave me the original box of Remingtons he bought for it with 10 empty brass cases and 10 unfired. He swore on his mother's grave that was all he ever shot it.
Like him, for the next 30 years it sat in my safe. Last year I took it out, went to the range with a buddy, and shot up that half a box. The gun is bonified 98% NRA Fine.
It's a flat shooting, MOAing, piece of American art. Sometimes, when the wife is out of town, it sleeps on her side.
I also have a Winchester 52, serial number 1308, that is just as pristine.
