moly bullets

    it seems strange to me when i read about moly coated bullets it says that they reduce friction AND VELOCITIES. i do not understand, if you decrease friction, shouldn't velocities go up?

    I believe pressure goes down, hence velocity.

    Not sure about the physics behind it...

    Plus there is the pro versus con lobbies on the effects of Moly on barrels.

    Moly allows you to get more velocity for the same pressure. You'll need to use more powder to get that same pressure though.

    Means it slides down the barrel easier. Less friction.
    Same reason lead is faster than jacketed with the same powder charge.
