11 lb. when we got him Jun 16, now he's hit 22 lb.

If he keeps doing this, we'll have a 500 lb. Vizsla by the end of the year.

your puppy is cute but what a picture of him have to do with hunting? cause he might someday?

Soon, actually, if all goes as planned.

According to Richard Wolters, whose books many people here recommended before we got him, he can be hunting this Fall. I'll believe it when I see it, but I'm excited to try.

This is an update after previous puppy pics, BTW. And evidence that we haven't shot him yet, as I thought we might after the first few nights.:p

And thank you to those who recommended training books, etc.! It's been really helpful.

What will you be hunting with him? training? Where? what? when? inquiring minds want to know.

Lookin' good, Bear. Think of it this way . . . you'll be able to ride him back to the rig at the end of the day . . .

Nah.

How old is he, now?

Was looking at the photo album of my GSD (now deceased) last night. He weighed 41 lbs. @ 16 weeks, and he only grew to 135 lbs.:D

He's now a day short of 13 weeks. Just got a quail DDF in the mail. I scented it and he was trying to jump onto the kitchen table to get it before he'd even seen what it was.

He sat, stayed and retrieved it when we tossed it, then found it hidden in the living room under furniture when we covered his eyes and had him stay, then told him to fetch.

That's the gun dog training as of this evening.

Little guy is a serious handful, but he's smart. A real flirt, too. Greets every woman he sees. Just goes up and leans on their legs and wags his tail until they pet him. Where was he when I was single?

135 pounds? Holy crap, I hope not!:) He's pushing 25 now, I think. Sometimes he looks bigger in the morning than the night before.

What are you feeding him? If he's growing that fast, I''d be worried about Pano (Panosteitis, don't worry too much its not serious).....If feeding high-protein puppy food (most are), get him off the puppy food sooner (4 months or so)....Too much protein can contribute to pano....The aforementioned GSD had Pano when he was about 8 months-1 year....I didn't know about the too-much-protein, back then.

Cute little bugger.

He's eating adult Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach, mainly because that's what our other dog eats and it seems to work well for him, too.

No puppy food for him. I don't think he's ever eaten anything but his mother's milk and decent-quality adult dog food.

I'll pass on word to him that he's cute. He bows and says, "Thanks!":D
