Just bought a Mint M44 un fired and no import marks Took it all apart and cleaned it up took a bore scope and inspected the bore just clean as the day it was made, However the trigger was not as I would not have liked it to be.
Took out the trigger retaining pin removed the trigger spring. put the trigger spring in a vise and took off a small amount of stock at the rear of the spring where it rests on the receiver
moving forward took a small amount off of the sear TOP.
Took the trigger spring and polished up the sear face and the same to the bolt sear face.
Reassemble trigger install bolt and try the trigger.
This will take up the slack and tighten up the trigger. Much better trigger feel and a crisp brake ;)

If you want an adjustable trigger I made a number of them with small pointed allen screws picked up at ace hardware, my drill press, and a tap for under $6. Take a look at the huber trigger and think along those same lines. I couldn't spend $100 for a trigger on a $100 rifle. Make sure you use lock-tight and drop test for saftey if you do this mod.

These are probably some of the easiest rifles around to do a proper trigger job on.
Clean up the notch in the cocking piece to start with.

Some yahoo ruined the trigger on an M-44 I got in a trade did not want to try it in the shop. The guy made it a little more then a hair trigger. Why anyone would try to turn that gun into Olympic match gun is beyond me. I will have to get parts to fix it
