Mossberg 810 30.06 ?

I have been helping a buddy set up his Mossberg 810a in 30.06 for elk hunting this week. The rifle has a mossberg labeled 4X scope make made in Japan. The bolt has 4 locking lugs on the front of the bolt, 23" barrel and a wood stock. The trigger was very easy to adjust.

Anybody have any thoughts on this rifle? Any good? Who do you thing may have made the scope for Mossberg?

They were serviceable rifles. The entire 800 series were good shooters. A design not easily supported today, as not a lot of them were built. I've seen 2 in pawn shops with out magazines, evidently lost and there aren't any new magazines for sale that I found. I know one guy has a 7MM rem Mag that is a good shooter.
