Hi all I'm looking at a mossberg 930 18" with the breacher on the barrel. Would this be a good option for 3 gun? I would add a +2 or 3 for better capacity. Or should I go with the waterfowl version with the 28 inch barrel and have it cut down 24 and threaded? Anyone that can help it would be much appreciated I'd like to buy once and not have to upgrade later if I get more serious about competing. Also I know an FN or a Benelli would be great but I am on a budget, thanks in advance.

I have the 930 w/ breecher barrel and would suggest avoiding it... the breecher barrel that is, not the model. I bought it back when I was ignorant and fell under the salesman's hypnotic spell. The gun itself works well enough but the SPX model will do you just fine and the barrel is the same size all the way down, making it easier to put attachments on if you are so inclined.

The 930's work fine for 3 gun, lot's of people using them now. I have the 930 Rhythm (12+1 round) for unlimited but have friends with the 22" and 24" JM models and they work just as well. I'm not sure the 18" Breacher model is the right way to go unless it's exceptionally cheap where you can afford to change to a 22" or 24" barrel later.

Thanks guys, think I'm going to go with the waterfowl with the walnut set up! Think ill have it cut down after th ports and get it threaded.
