Anyone see the 4th of July ad? Some sort of Mossberg that comes with two barrels, a 28" and 18.5" barrel, for only 219. Says regular price is 299. Why is this one so inexpensive?

Haven't seen the ad, but it's likely their "Maverick 88". Don't honestly know the difference between that and the 500. I've looked at both, and both say "Mossberg, Made in USA" Maverick action seems a littlle rougher, and has "Maverick 88" rollmark on left side of the receiver IIRC.

I have been unable to find out what the choke is on the 28" bbl. Anyone know? And can you get a replacement bbl that takes inserts?

AFAIK, all Mossberg barrels with chokes of recent manufacture use removable choke tubes, so you should be able to buy additional tubes with ease.

WHY is this shotgun thread in the Rifle forum? Moving it...

Oops, completely forgot that there was a shotgun forum. Shows you how much I frequent that one. :)

You sure it's a 500? If it is, I might finally get a slide action shotgun... been wanting my Lever Action rifle first though... but I can't turn away good deals. I'll go check it out first chance next week then.

Saw the Maverick at Wally World, I'll take a real 500 for a little bit more...
