Here's the drill. I'm looking for the most accurate (100 - 300 yards) .223 powder using 69g and heavier bullets out of a bolt gun. I've listed some powders for you to vote on as well as a catagory called other.

If you select other, then in your post, include what powder you're using. If other begins to be selected more than the rest, I will review the posts, and compile a secdonary poll using the other listings.

What will happen, over time, is we will begin to shake out the top couple three powders for this particular combination.

I already have a combo that shoots well in my guns, but I'm curious to see what others have and maybe help someone gain a starting point.

So let's see what you've selected. Remember, if your favorite special powder isn't listed, then select other and list it in your post.

    Have fun.....

OK - I forgot a few - let's see if I can get in to skew the poll and add R-15, 10x and Benchmark for you guys.

I agree with previous poster. RL15 has given me the best results with 65-80gr bullets.

    Secondly was BLC2/Win748.

I only tried Varget with 55gr bullets, but couldn't get anywhere near the book charges in the case and certainly not book "claimed" velocities.

RL15 however, gives superb results. Even my Rem.M7 with a 1/12" twist shoots a 65gr Sierra GameKing BT accurately at over 2,900fps from an 18.5"bbl.

I have used H335 extensively with bullets in the 40-55 grain range, but the results were nothing short of amazing.

I use mostly H335 for anything to be shot in much quantity. It meters so well through my powder meters that I never have to trickle up a charge. It isn't always the absolute most accurate powder for me, but it shoots fairly well and is much easier to load than most. In my hunting/plinker rounds, I'll give up a little accuracy to cut out the reloading time using other powders.

I use Varget and Reloader 15 almost interchangeably; although Varget is a bit faster and more appropriate for projectiles lighter than 69gr. With the heavier bullets, I get better velocities with RL15.

When I do use ball powders, like for bulk ammo, I use TAC because I get good accuracy and excellent velocities.

I've never tried anything but Win. 748 and H335 simply because, it was all that was available to me. I have had real good luck with both powders. I use a dillon Rl 550 Press and both powders meter well for me. I was recently offered a Can of Varget, I took 1 look at the stick powder and gave it back to them. I could buy something else, but I would have to have it shipped. I'm unwilling to pay the additional shippinp charges
for it. Call me an Ole Fool if you will. I don't care.

I have used Varget, H-335, A2230, and a couple others. The winner always turned out to be H-335 for me.

H-335 and Varget. The H-335 gets the nod though, especially with Hornady 52 gr. BTHP's, makes some small holes at 200 yds. and the Pd's hate it.

I dont have a .223 but do have .222 Rem and a .222 Rem Mag. Both have good results with N120, N130, N133 powders.

    For 69 to 80 gr SMK's it's R-15 for me.

First time I tried, H335 mixed with 55gr Nosler Varmint bullets, it produced .5" moa at 100 yards from a 16" 1:9 barrel AR-15. It's my current varmint go-to load.

Out of my bolt varget is tough to beat with the heavier pills.

24.3 grains R-15 under 77 SMK, over CCI 450 in a LC case from a Dillon 550, out of a 1/7 twist. Shoots good.

H335. I have loaded Hornady rounds from 55 to 75 grains and it does very well. I have a very tight barrel as well...1 in 7. The rifle likes the heavier rounds but does well with either and loves the powder. Although, as some of you remember, with that tight a barrel, when using the H335, I load at the lower end of the spectrum...never at max.

    M A .223 powder

Surplus WC846 does it for me but I've also had great results with RL-15,
    H322.

BLC-2 did better for me than Varget for 69 smk's. Varget did very well for me with 55 gr sierras. I just got some H4895 to try out with 50 gr v-max's and 60 gr varminters.
