Most Inexpensive and Efficient way to Obtain Firearms Training?

IS there any way the mods can change the title of this post to the title I put on the first post? I think I messed up by including the word "commando" in this post. Pardon me, I am a newbie in the gun world, and I didn't know the correct term to use. Obviously commando was the wrong word. I would like to get the serious posts back on the thread, sicne I have heard a lot of good advice from people who knew what I was originally asking. What I was asking originally was the most inexpensive way to do tactical and combat like training with firearms without having to spend thousands and thousands of dollars. My goal is to train myself as much as possible as a civilian. I obviously know that I will never qualify as a commando, seal or army ranger. My goal is to be as trained as a civilian can be, without being in the military. And also you have to keep in mind I am on budget, so I cannot spend millions in a year on training. Is that too much to request? Just looking for efficient ways to do training and do it as economical as possible. Yes, my goal in training will to be to survive a zombie attack when SHTF. Thats how I like to train, how practical or skilled will I be, well I know I won't be as skilled as Carlos Hathcock, but I will sure be more prepared than Shirley Temple. LOL.

Mods I request.. that you can change the title to "Most Inexpensive and Efficient way to do Tactical/Military-Like Firearm Training as a Civilian". It would help people to make more genuine posts here. THank you and I apologize for my ignorance with the original title.

Unfortunately the alternate title you wanted was too long to fit- so I edited it a little differently. Will that do?

I commonly offer the suggestion that a person read about adrenalin and its effects on one's behavior under stress. The tunnel vision, the high pulse rate, all that stuff.

I rather doubt that one encounters any sort of violence without an adrenalin rush occurring. I don't believe any sort of video game would engender that rush. And it's rather difficult to practice real gunfighting; it's considered rather anti-social, at the very least.

To me, that's part of the value of IPSC and/or IDPA. Psyching yourself up to go against the clock and perform perfectly in competition is indeed a stress-producer. It's difficult to get into that state when doing solo practice.

As far as martial arts, one important aspect is self-discipline, self-control. To me, an obvious question, then, is, how likely is it that you'd come up against a bad guy who's trained in martial arts? The odds are that somebody offering gratuitous violence is unlikely to be trained. Used to fighting, yes; used to absorbing pain, yes. But competent against somebody with any realistic training? Unlikely--as to odds. And the odds are all you can deal with. A basic level of ability can come from solo practice. I guess it's much like a favored line among gun-guys, "Even a .25ACP is better than a loud scream."

For the love of God I never claimed internet gamers were competent soldiers. And I never said anything about single player scripted games either. I realize now why the training sims never broke ground; it'd probably start a riot. You don't have to ban me though, I'll cede the argument. Tactical games have absolutely no bearing on real combat.

As far as what you said about martial arts 4Freedom, I agree with what Jeff was saying. Martial arts that just involve theoretical death-moves should be approached with the same scorn I just witnessed, talking about pc games. If you want something more powerful, I'd suggest Muay Thai, if you can find a school. I think any combative martial art will do, though, learning coordination and staying in shape is the greater asset.

Asked and answered. I don't see any purpose in continuing this thread.
