Most reliable magazine

I was reading a guy who wrote about his Browning HP in Afghanistan. We've all heard which autoloaders are the most reliable, and he said that with the dust he had to clean out the pistol with compressed air daily - but, the biggest problem was the magazines, just getting in them, and feeding problems.


So I guess it's related to which handgun is the most reliable, but I'd like to read which magazine is reliable, aftermarket or factory.

In 1911's, I use Wilson Combat magazines; in other auto-loaders either
the factory OEM seems to work just fine~!

Inglis HP ? DNDCA still has those "out and about" in the sand...

Single stack magazines!!! Much less friction when trying to push up the cartridges into feeding position.

Yea it's Inglis, but I said browning for simplicity. In this the test below (not he same as orig post) the magazine repeatedly was the point that failed. And then later this is said about USP magazines;

USP mags have basically a shovel extending for the slide stop, which proved them useless combined with the sand.

So I'm wondering if there are any designs specifically to shed dirt, if Glock uses some of them, and generally that sort of thing.

From what I've heard and read, members of the Armed Forces are pretty much sick and tired of the old Inglis HP.

Now everyone here must know that the HP's in service with DNDCA have been ridden hard and put away wet for the most part, IIRC the number 1 complaint is old beat up magazines. These things are like the 40 year old AK's the troops are pulling off dead Taliban members, OLD & well USED.

I've seen that the MP's have Sig 225's now... I'd expect DNDCA to be scoping out a new sidearm PDQ...

+1 on the single stack mags. But in mud, dust, etc. clean the mags when you clean the gun! The minute or two/mag is worth it in reliability.

In answer to what I interpreted what Lucky's original question was, I have never had a problem with MecGar mags...they are the "factory" mag manufacturer for some gun makers and make aftermarket mags for just about everyone else. I've used them on HPs, CZs, and just ordered a few for a Para. I've found them to be completely reliable. I'd stay away from USA and Pro Mag. They are spotty at best in my admitedly limited experience.
