after buying a used (but appeared to have never been fired) mossberg 500 for 200$ and shooting it with great results, id have to say its the best 200$ ive ever spent. just curious what the most rewarding gun purchase you folks have made? ie: best deals, most accurate etc.

Nagant 91/30 bought unseen over the internet.

1944 Izhmash, seemingly unissued.
3" groups at 100 yards with cheap ammo.

Best $130 I've ever spent.

Uberti 1885 Winchester High Wall, .45-70 government, 30" barrel. It's one long, smooth handling rifle that slings lead right where I aim it. Next to no noticeable recoil, and much faster firing than expected, with the addition of a dump pouch.

For a little background, I have been after a buffalo gun since I first watched Glenn Campbell on True Grit pack that "big bore Sharps carbine". Was supposed to get one for my eighteenth birthday, when I graduated highschool, when I made it through college, when I got my first couple of real paychecks. Always got pushed back. Finally threw caution to the winds, and picked up a High Wall that magically appeared in the local gun store one day.

Haven't regretted it, not one single bit.

My most rewarding firearm purchase is probably a Remington 541-S (22 rimfire). It shoots real well. This is the rifle I was most attracted to when they were manufactured. Due to financial reasons or simply the gun and life not matching up for years, it took me a long time before I actually bought one. It was no bargain when I purchased it. But the price never bothered me.

S&W K22 combat masterpiece, the only handgun I've ever known my dad to sell

Most: S&W 460V. The versatility and capabilities of that revolver make it well worth the price to me.

Runner up: XDs. The utility and ease of carry of that gun makes the value far exceed the price IMO.

Did not get a deal on either though.

My most rewarding gun purchase would be my Ruger 10/22, purchased new back in 1978 for around $72 out the door. This rifle has been so incredibly accurate and reliable over the years that it really has given me the most bang for my buck.

Luger M80 9x19mm Hi Power clone with the Browning design barrel lock-up manufactured by FEG and assembled / fitted by Luger. Bought it through GunBroker and it cost me $272 including S/H and FFL transfer. It has an excellent bore, a decent Parkerized refinishing job, and worn original wood stocks. I do not think I would sell it even if someone offered to double my money. From the way it shoots, I think it likes me.

Not a screaming deal price-wise, but the one gun I was the most impressed with that I bought used was/is a Bersa Thunder 380. When I got it to the range, I had a mish-mash of ammo ranging from brand-new to 20 years old, in various bullet types. I ran them all through, sometimes mixed together in the magazine, and have never been able to get the gun to malfunction. I also found it very comfortable to shoot, and easy to place shots with within reasonable accuracy expectation. I'd owned two .380 pistols before (a Grendel P10, which I still own, and a Walther PPK/S), and this is far more enjoyable to handle than either.

A close contender would be my Taurus PT-22. It was made in 1998, and acquired by me in 2012, and is quite enjoyable as well to run.

The Hi Standard Hamden Victor I bought a few years ago. It was the gun I wanted in my younger days but couldn't afford.

1940's vintage Brno#1 .22LR $300. I have other rifles that I should get better results from, but this one I simply shoot the best.

Smith & Wesson 41 about 1970 vintage $550. I had some kinks to work out on this one, but what an accurate and fun shooter.

Hands down......the Ruger American. Inexpensive, comfortable, and extremely accurate.

Glock 19 (Gen 4).

I shoot it well, I enjoy shooting it, it's reliable, I've had a very easy time finding accessories for it, and it's the perfect size for all carry. Since I got a Galco King Tuk for it, this pistol is my all season CCW, my HD gun, and my favorite range toy.

I squeeze more value and enjoyment out of it, every day. I don't have an emotional attachment to my particular copy, but that's part of what I like about the weapon. It's easily replaceable.

I plan on getting another.

all of my guns are my rewarding gun purchases, I'm not going to single 1 out and say that's the best one, because that would be like saying i like my son over my daughter, because that's why i wanted them and have them.

So that's why every purchase I make is very rewarding to me.

The best $270.63 I ever spent was on a NIB Savage 112 with a 26" bull barrel in 223 from Walmart. It was on clearance for $250 plus 8.25% tax. Thought about the question some more and remembered the $45 I paid for a Universal M1 carbine from a pawn shop.

Probably $700 for my grandads 1919 model 94 30-30. Nephew ended up with it somehow and I just kept adding 100's till he took it. I wouldnt pay that for any other, but would have paid more for it.

I would have to say that the best gun purchase I have ever made was a Brand new Romanian AK for $375.00 3 years ago. Now you see this same gun going for $1,000.00.

Maybe the Norinco SKS, bought for $200 in near-mint condition, March '08, FTF. Luckily the seller was/is a "shotgun man".

Along with it is the Service Grade M-1 Garand. $650 might not be dirt cheap, but the value and quality speak for themselves.

Greetings
Mine would be a Repro Winchester 1876 in 50-95 bought from Roadrunner for $678.00 2 years ago. Did not see it until back up north there in the US of A last June.
This one has nicely fitted good looking wood and shoots great with 3F and a 350 grain 50-50 mix bullet. Velocity right at 1460 fps. Now if I can find a big ol' blackbear or one of them cougars roaming about next time up north.

Colt Trooper 357 in nickel/stainless for 225.00.

This was ten years ago, but still!
